He’s at Vandy, following Franklin no less (and had virtually no talent that rolled over from him either). It is what it is.
I do know I’d happily take him as a DC.

Not that it matters but that Mississippi State-Vandy score was 51-0, not 34-10.

We’re still talking about Vandy level talent here, and Franklin got anyone worth a lick to follow him to PSU. I’m not saying he’s a good coach. It’s just....water is wet, you know?

I don’t understand why we can’t get our football program up to a reasonable level. We’ve become a juggernaut on the diamond. We just need the right hire to bring football up to speed. I’d give mason 1 more year. If we finish worse than 7-5, he’s gone.

Or it could be that Franklin is really damn good, as evidenced by his success at Penn State even though there were scholarship issues when he took over. Vandy will always have a talent disadvantage, but I think Mason would be good at a bigger school with more talent and a real offensive coordinator. If Vandy fires him, I think he'll go back to Stanford and I wouldn't be shocked if he becomes their next HC when Shaw eventually takes off for a bigger gig.
