Dude... normally, you're better than this.

You're simply not being honest if you think the clock stopping long enough to move the chains then restarting would be enough time to get the kick off.

Just admit Auburn benefitted from an obvious loophole.

it's not a life altering issue - but it should be addressed and the loophole closed.

Enjoy the win - I know I would.

I think maybe you make the "run off" some sort of smaller number like 3-5 seconds maybe, but I'm sure there are counter arguments to that too

You don't even need a runoff. Another option would be to say that there has to be at least 2 or three seconds to put back on. That would compensate for a clear error by the officials. There was no clear error on Saturday...only the natural human reaction time of three separate events.

Do you guys even watch the games? About 2 years ago the refs quit “stopping the clock until the chains got set” in college football.
A) the offenses want to go fast now (looking at you Gus) they want the back marked and ready
B) therefore the refs now stop the clock for about 3-4 seconds of real time before the wind the clock into play. LSU ran a first down play this week where the ball ended up on the sidelines and they almost knocked over a chain guy who was still moving to set the first down marker.

So, if the Auburn player was tackled with 2 or 3 seconds left, you know well enough, no way a FG could be attempted. So, why should an official call of 1 second left the team be allowed to?

I haven’t seen anyone say AU didn’t benefit from the break in game time to review the call. But the correct reviews were made, and the letter of the rules were applied. A collateral benefit to one team by applying the rules exactly as they should be does not mean it’s cheating or wrong - it just is what it is and happens all the time.

And that is how rule changes happen in college football.

By saying this, you must can cite the rules then
The rules are vague, as usual.
They state that the clock is stopped when the referee "awards the offense for a first down".
Is a first down awarded in the split second the player hits the ground?

his was obviously waaaaayyyyyy over your head. No surprise there. The point is that you don't have 100 other plays reviewed during the course of a 60 minute football game to add one second, when clearly you could. The last play of the half should be treated no differently than 100 others. Like I said, anyone who has watched college football for 15 minutes...

Haha, no you are just steaming mad and irrational. If a coach wanted to challenge the second that a runner went down on a first down in the middle of the first quarter, I’m sure he could do that perfectly within the rules. Just the same as a coach could challenge the spot on every down if they wanted. It’s just coaches don’t do that when the time or spot is not critical to the game. On this particular play, the time element was critical, thus Play was reviewed

You’re an idiot

BS. You are butthurt because your team was not the beneficiary of a rule. If roles were reversed you’d be happy today and saying the opposite.

Just because one team benefits from a rule doesn’t mean that rule is bad. There was one second left due to replay. The point of replay is accuracy. The idea we should make an arbitrary number of time to run off anytime there is a stoppage is absurd. The 10 second rule is absurd. There’s plenty of plays that get off in under 10 seconds, yet many take over 10 seconds. Let it play out as is. Just because a rare event happens, doesn’t mean we need to change a rule.

Well there is a lot more to be thought about. Did he make a first down, was the clock stopped correctly, etc...

I'm okay with this.
The ref should have started the clock as soon as he announced his decision, not wait a minute or so for the refs and players get in place, including the center be allowed to already have his hands on the ball ready to snap at the sound of the whistle.

Why are you so fricking stupid that you can't grasp this point? Did most of your brain cells literally run down your daddy's leg after he pulled out? We all know what the fricking rules are today, dumbass. What has been pointed out to you...again, which anyone with two brain cells to rub together and has watched more than 15 minutes of college football understands...is that it is a flaw in the current rule that needs to be addressed.

I agree but I don't think the 10 second run off is fair either. Not sure exactly how you should handle it, but 10 seconds is ridiculous.

It's also interesting how the Auburn clock operator starts a 1 second snap when it's LSU under center on the last play of the game vs Auburn under center on the last play of a half

...but that's none of my business

You do realize no team has their own clock operator, right? The clock is run by an SEC official.
