Where in my post did I say you couldn't/shouldn't care? At Kentucky, we simply have better options close by. I love baseball. I'm just explaining why UK baseball isn't big. If you don't like the reasons, well, I don't know what to tell you. Basketball and football are the two sports that matter at UK. We support the baseball team but not like LSU does. Yall are the biggest baseball fanbase in the NCAA I'd say. So you wondering why we're not insane about it is really no different than the way I look at any of yalls basketball programs.

I smell another coaching search for the Tide this year.

Where they end up with Dusty Baker and Bama fans think that's a good thing. Just like the basketball search.

We wandered the desert of independence for right at 20 years.

And since Tanner was coach, the program hasn't put any emphasis, at all, on winning in the SEC Tournament. So there aren't many conference championships to speak of.

I have no problem being no. 2 to LSU. But it would appear that the gap is widening, instead of closing. Holbrook.

You fail to mention that 95 percent of bama's success in baseball came when not a single member of the public gave a frick about the sport. This was during the 1930's, 1940's and 1950's.

Alabama has like 3 regular season championships since 1968 and went from like 1968 until the mid 1990's with only 3 NCAA tournament appearances

That's not a parameter for this thread, bud. The title states this is a historical ranking, which would include all years - as evidenced by the OP's inclusion of MSU's 6 Conference Championships prior to the formation of the SEC in 1933, and Missouri - with 13 of their included conference championships denoted by the OP coming prior to 1966.

That's not the problem. Or at least not the biggest problem. Baseball games aren't going to get a ton of support as far as seats in the stands when it comes to KC or STL. There are a small handful of diehard locals that attend a lot of games, but otherwise the University has historically done a piss poor job of promoting baseball. There is no reason why between students and the local community, who aren't going to Cards/Royals games anyways, can't put 3,000 seats in the stand regularly

Very true. But there is plenty of baseball to choose from for people from Missouri. You have Springfield (AA) Cards, Memphis (AAA) Cards, Royals (AA) just in NW Arkansas, Independent team in KCK, Royals (AAA) in Omaha. So from a standpoint of just watching baseball, there are a lot of options, and a better product.

I'm ready for Jamison to move on. I don't care how this season goes. Coach Earlywine and softball have passed him in fan support.

Yes, and Yale has better history than Alabama in football.

Yeah. South Carolina doesn't care. Mississippi State doesn't care. Arkansas doesn't care.

I flipped Alabama and Georgia due to UGA's 1 championship. I guess a little of me thinks Georgia should have had 2 championships with that Gordon Beckham team as well.

LSU is still the king in the SEC ... but you undersold SCAR imho, even placing them at 2nd they are one of the top ten all time programs in college baseball history.

Admitting you aren't #1, but simultaneously arguing that #2 is too low...math major?

I was speaking of regular season conference titles. Conference tournaments mean very little in the grand scheme of things. They're nice to win, but that's about it.

We are talking 1,500 to 2,000 fans to games thats not too much to ask to support an sec team.

Understood. Well, for 20 years we couldn't have won one, and since joining the SEC, I don't think winning a regular season conference record has received much emphasis. Nice to have, sure, but not necessarily program-defining. Tanner was much more concerned about what happened in regional play and beyond.

Holbrook isn't concerned about any of it.

I wasn't sure why he posted that either. The OP gave South Carolina a ton of kudos. I think the OP was just saying LSU baseball is to the SEC what Alabama football is to the SEC, not that we are THE best program of all time.

Plus I don't know why he brought up basketball. Looks like they had a nice run in the late 60's to mid 70's, but they only had 3 sweet 16 appearances. hardly powerhouse
