The Bama program is toast.

I'm not livid, this crew just better live up to the expectations that come with that hefty salary.
if not, do you fire him and absorb the $70 million or so it will take to buyout him and his staff? after paying upwards of $60-70 million for the five seasons previous?

4 of them have played for a natty, one has never coached a playoff game

We have gone full retard at this point.

I saw this. I was not happy about it

Definitely not happy about it.

In no way has he earned this, but that's the way it works unfortunately. The likelihood that DeBoer lasts until 2032 is about even with the likelihood that anyone at all will care about college football 9 years from now

They're all overpaid...even ones with actual success...but it's Monopoly money...sports in America is insane in general when it comes to money.
But the people trying to act like DeBoer isn't a good coach are the same ones saying he's a leading candidate for any open job that comes up. "He sucks...but everyone wants him!" Can't have it both ways.
2 year resume...spanked most of our "rivals"...made the SECCG...won a playoff road game and made the quarterfinals. Outside of Kirby, that run alone is better than most any other SEC coach. Personally, I'm glad he's extended. Football and basketball should be stable for at least the next 3-4 years...which is saying something these days.

None of that matters if you're lose to FSU and Oklahoma like he has. Also getting embarrassed by Georgia and Indiana makes him not look so good at all.

Reminds me of the Cal extension. Have fun with the gymnastics.

2-1 against Georgia.
Yeah, a couple of bad losses...but overall, it's been pretty good. I like beating Auburn, Tennessee and LSU (5-1)...sure, championships are the standard, but outside of a couple of unrealistic names, there's no one I'd prefer over DeBoer. Doesn't mean he's immune to criticism...it's just reality.

He's a good coach, but there was no reason to give him an extension two years in.

Bama fans should be happy! Great coach and proven winner in the Pacific Northwest. Also won a playoff game on the road with Bama. 2nd coming of Saban.

LSU and Alabama are overpaying when neither coach has a championship.
You know what they should do? Dress a guy in a disguise and send him around to other schools to steal their signals, like they do to win championships in the B10. Then it would make sense to pay their coaches more.
