And I wonder if you did not cover the ineligible receiver whether or not they would try and throw to him.
I bet they would.
I bet they would.

You have a point. Out of all the plays Auburn and Mizzou ran, how many holding penalties got called?
At least 3 times on Auburn.
None at all on Mizzou, even though the @ausewingmachine had to stay busy on the sideline fixing torn jerseys.

Obviously I was watching the Saints so I missed this. Did he elaborate on it? I knew he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed but damn. Would to know his reasoning behind this.

Holding wasn't called against anyone in the SEC this year. It was ridiculous, and a major reason for the offensive explosion in addition to experienced QBs and younger defenses throughout the league.
I have no problem with AU's offense as long as the refs have no problem with their QB getting hit as hard as possible one every play. What happened in the SECCG where a flag was thrown when Marshall was clearly gunning for more yards can't happen. In that kind of offense, a QB no longer gets the level of protection that a QB normally gets. And yes, I think refs should be very cognizant of ineligible receivers downfield since that sort of thing is very likely to happen with a QB improvising, whether or not it happened in the Iron Bowl. Just like refs should be very cognizant of illegal procedure penalties since again this often happens in the variations of the HUNH.
All this being said. David Pollack is a douche and he can float his own boat.

Marshall threw the pass legally. Jay Prosch an eligible receiver being 5 yards downfield blocking while the ball was being thrown was not.
Do you have an angle that shows this? You've said it enough, but do you have a picture?

I thought it was a bad penalty too, but I am feeling better now.

Agree. Most effective long-term defense against the spread-option offense is decleating the quarterback on every play, regardless of whether he chooses to keep the ball or not. Fair is fair.

Because AUburn is one of the systematically dirtiest programs in the country, gets away with offering illegal benefits to recruits every year, and still has every ball bounce their way when UGA, a program that actually tries to do the right thing gets to live out the Book of Job.
As an example, Murray is a good guy who has tried to do things the right way his entire career. HIs entire offense is smited by God his senior season and it ends with him tearing his ACL right before he would be trying to secure a spot in the NFL. Meanwhile, Marshall steals from a teammate, gets thrown off the team along with another DB right before signing day ( thus helping to screw UGA's secondary this year), and then gets every single fricking thing that could possibly go wrong, go right for him this year.

The only thing I would stop is the short huddle or changing personnel at all without huddling.
