Expansion will not be done because it's cool. It will only be done if it financially makes sense. Practically, that means expanding markets. Clemson and GTech bring nothing to the table as far as I can see. The Florida market is big enough to support another team, but it will be relatively small compared to the virgin territory that an A&M would bring.

About the same thing as the other show. NCAA has identified the bag man and have identified a witness to it. Waiting to get the person to come forward or get a disgruntled employee or someone associated to confirm it. Also said the one that they have identified would be labelled as a booster.

I don't hate the Longhorns per se, but I think they're a poison pill for any conference to swallow.
Truer words were never spoken!
Talk about a program that cares ONLY for itself and nothing for the conference that they are allegedly aligned with, Texass is the poster child for self-absorbed!
I would rather not expand, or take almost ANY other program besides the Schlonghorns.

I say bring in aTm and then Florida state. Those are about the only two schools that add anything to the conference. The next team would be Clemson and then nobody else. Miami is a shell of its former self and they have shitty facilities and play in a pro stadium.

Why do people want to expand? We already dominate the rest of CFB with what we have now.
Glad I'm not alone, I would like to see the SEC stay as is. The athletes in the southeast will continue to go to the big SEC schools.

When a school is invited and it goes to a Vote how many schools have to vote in favor for them to join the conference?

SEC offered Fsu and Miami in the 90's and they were too chicken to take the offer.
I say bring in A&M, OU, TT, and Okie State. Move Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and OM to the East.

The East would have too many teams. Better if OM and LSU stay.

i have to agree with this. the politics in texas is effed up to the max. i thought la. was bad but we were just a bunch of pikers. i've been here 5 years now and sometimes feel that i live in a latin american country. the politicions are the biggest money whores in the country.

Bringing in the East schools and kicking Vandy and Tennessee west was pretty interesting.
Opens up some TV in Texas, allows for SEC mega-renegotiation of contract, and keeps southern flavor to the SEC recipe

Y'all don't fricking want Texas. I understand A&M (Although I think they would be even further over their heads competition wise).
Honestly though I think A&M goes SEC, UT indy and OU/OSU/Tech go Pac 12 eventually. Baylor might come as a package with someone just because of politics.

You could be right, but IMO Texas politics won't play a very big part in all this. Texas A&M is going to do what's best for them in the longrun, politics be damned.
I'll acknowledge that you probably only read message boards and you don't know much about the history of conference realignment and the impact that Texas politics has always, and will always, have but yours is a ridiculous statement.
quote:
I do not want Texas in the SEC ever. They destroy whatever conference they are in because of their greed.
Every single initiative that Texas has ever voted for in the Big 12, like unequal revenue sharing, Texas A&M has voted the EXACT same way. In fact Texas and A&M have never voted differently on a single Big 12 issue. If you hate greed, why do you want the Aggies? As for Texas destroying the Big 12 because of the LHN, the Aggies & Sooners knew all about it when they decided to stick with the Big 12. The Aggies had to stay politically but every out of state school had the option to leave. Hyperbolic statements like your are silly and have no foundation in fact.
quote:
They wouldn't run the show however in the SEC.
Texas never ran the show in the Big 12. Every school, except Nebraska, voted exactly the same on every major issue. The Big 12 never had a Texas problem. It had a Cornhusker problem.
quote:
I think Texas goes the independent route eventually because they always have to have their own way
What is this based on? The LHN? OU had said they would have their own network rolling out this fall and Nebraska was ahead of schedule on their own network when the Big 10 reached out to them. Again, every school knew about the LHN and choose to come back to the Big 12.
quote:
Honestly though I think A&M goes SEC, UT indy and OU/OSU/Tech go Pac 12 eventually.
The school presidents of Cal & Stanford will die in a suicide pact before a shite school like Texas Tech (without Texas involved) gets a Pac 12 invite.

I will say that Baylor would get a Pac 12 invite before Texas Tech. But neither are stand alone. They need help to get in

Guess what school sits right in the middle of all these tv sets, and has around 200,000 former students alive. Combine that with the fact that it is one of the only remaining rich football markets that is similar to the SEC where fans actually put college football way high on their list of interests. The left coast doesn't care about football like we do.
Slive is no fool, and the sips are chicken****. They are too left coast to be in the SEC anyway.
Sooners would fit as well, and Mobilehoma has plenty of rabbit ear'd tv sets, and don't get the longhorn network because that would require cable/dish.
