Actually he followed the many that were complaining about Mullen's inability to recruit and he , like always as a follower does, jumped on the Hudspeth wagon. It really didn't involve Mullen be fired or going on his own per se.

That's fine. I tune Bundy out most times so if you say so.

Yeah - that is easy to do. He'll take some bait, now.

I was told that Hudspeth has his sights on bigger fish than State, and Im not sure he'd recruit any better than Dan is doing currently.

It's simple sociology. Fear of loss is a very powerful motivator. Hudspeth wants the MSU job -- and he wants it this year.

Not sure about that, we have won our last 2 and our fans are more stirred up than ever.

Because we looked like shite against 2 shite teams and could have easily lost both games?

These past two games have been truly representative of Mullen's last few years: "just enough"

who could yall get that could realistically take it to the next level? hud? please...

i think he has done a very good job at state. just needs to cut out the goofy shite like the swinging gate 2 point attempts a la oregon or the shuffling of qb's. it seems like he hasn't done as much ra-ra hype shite during the offseason which is good.

unless he has back to back losing seasons i wouldn't think of firing him.

I think it's "rah-rah" but that's just me. He toned it down when Ole Miss kicked his arse last year.

If he has a losing season next year with being "so young" this year and not producing, I guess it's possible. But, if Ole Miss players have dysentery when they come to Starkville because of the water supply and we beat Arkansas, then we are all good.

He's a decent coach, but not the guy that's going to get State over the hump. You all need a change to get some excitement back in the program.

Define "hump" when 3 teams in the West have owned the NC for the last few years and recruit top 10 year after year. Our hump is a brick wall.

Our best (realistic) case is to be in a position where we're competing for 3rd/4th in the West every year with the occasional "stars align" shot at a division championship. Dan got us on the way, but he's not taking us any further than we are now.

Basically, we could be the next South Carolina with the right coach. I think Hud is the man to do it.

Exactly right. It is all a question of what you believe your program is and what its potential is.

MSU isn't going to find a guy that will be more successful than Mullen. However, Mullen is never going to win big at MSU. Because of this, the hope of the unknown could actually be better than the reality of mediocrity.

It's a tough spot to be in.

I'm not one to expect us to compete year in and year out in the West. I just don't think it will happen. What I do expect is for us to leave it on the field every game, win or lose.

I think Freeze is goofy, but his players have bought into him and his system, and they play their tails off. And he knows how to communicate with the kids and potential recruits. I once thought the same with Mullen. I don't anymore.

There is always excitement with a new coach. I don't know if Hud is the answer, but I know the new car smell now smells like a turd.

It all comes down to expectations really.

My point was really this I don't give a shite who it is, as long as we playing our arses off. It pains me to say it, but play with the same effort Ole Miss is. State did that the first couple of years under Mullen. Not anymore.
