The coaches job is to get the best players to play in their system. If they can't find any players good enough for their system, maybe it's not the players.

That's certainly what Enos is trying to say here.

He can't just say "hey when I was OC at Arkansas and we had a shitty Bielema team we still curb-stomped Florida, so yes my new team is terrible."

He has to hint around at it, but he knows people like us understand.

You reckon Enos wanted to start someone else, and Manny made the decision to go with Williams?

well, in retrospect I also think Alabama dodged that bullet when he went to Miami, and I posted that the night of the game, but to be fair he did help Jalen Hurts get better, and I assume he helped all the qbs improve.

What a dick. All but a couple sacks weren’t even his fault. He was facing constant pressure every time he dropped back to pass

I like Enos and these are probably all valid criticisms that the kid needs to improve......but I'm not sure that blasting them all all out to the public makes much sense.

Well, yeah.

But he’s a young player in his first start in a huge game. Behind a turnstile offensive line. He’s not going to be Johnny Manziel, so there’s room for growth.

Personally, I think his comments were a shitty way to handle the situation. You want to rip his arse in-house? Have at it. But it certainly makes me wonder if he’s punishing him publicly because he sought to transfer out until he was convinced to stay.

The guy was sacked 10 times. Sure, he held the ball too long. But his OL was awful.

A lot of the times he was hit was from behind or within a second or two of having the ball. Considering they didn't have shorter routes for him, call bootlegs (maybe twice?) or adjust to our defensive line absolutely bumrushing their OL is all on Enos.

A competent OC would have called way more screens to keep our pass rush at bay.

He tried quite a few. They ran out of options offensively. The only other thing I thought they could have tried was keeping more protection in and running 2 man routes, but I'm not sure they could have gotten guys open that way.

It’s difficult to find open receivers when you are laying in your back or running for your life. I agree that at times he did not keep his eyes downfield, but that’s how the majority of freshmen will react to extreme pressure. The guy was sacked 10 fricking times. Probably had another 5-7 hurries with contact. Where is the criticism of the left tackle for getting beat every play? Also, Dan should have moved a RB to the left side of the QB or have a TE on the left side so they could chip the end. He didn’t do it once all game. I fault Dan a lot more than a freshman QB. His play calls on the first drive were excellent bc they negated the Florida rush. As the game progressed, the rest of the plays involved long routes that required 3 -4 solid seconds of pass blocking. He didn’t put his offense in a position to succeed. As that he took it out on the kid in public.

That QB kept them in the game.
Coaches lost that game.
4th and inches and you go for a FG? And miss.
Maybe that coach should have started with that.

If he’s saying that about his QB, what is he saying about the OTs?!

Your offensive line would crumble against a slight gust of wind and youre blaming the QB???

evidently Enos didn't have the balls to compete at this level, nor the work ethic to deal with Saban's required schedule, so it's a moot point

This is bull shite, the kid went 19-30 for 214 yrds and a Td. I think that is pretty shitty for it to get pinned on the freshman qb because the o-line couldnt block for shite and Enos play calling was less than mediocre, dude is bitching out.

there were a couple of times he could have slipped out of the pocket or scrambled. Are we sure that this was supposed to be "on the record". Some kids need to be broken down before they are built back up, but geez. Jarren Williams is legit tho. definitely needs some polishing. I'm just happy for him he isn't playing at UF. He has much more chance to develop properly under Enos than Dan Mullen.

the kid didn't play well - but his Offensive Line was hot garbage.

What about ENOS himself? the OLine couldn't block for two seconds and ENOS never adapted the game plan to roll the pocket - thought the OC had a worse day than the QB.
