Curious what everyone thinks as it's kind of been lost in all this - Cal or Muss?

If you had the choice between both guys who would you rather have today? Seems to have kind of been lost in the UK/Arkansas thing, but Muss was pretty celebrated by Arkansas folks until about 2 months ago.

I'd take Cal, though not by a landslide or anything. It's an interesting comparison because they've been mirror opposites the last 5 years. Muss has really only had 1 "really good" regular season, but had 3 solid tournament runs. Cal had 4 really solid regular seasons and 0 good tournament runs (granted, 1 tournament when he had a good team was cancelled for COVID).

Cal by a hair because I think he’s more stable and consistent. I love Muss as a coach though.

Neither, personally. One is a floater, and the other is basically an ADHD wacko.

Agree - I think the best tournament philosophy is that if you keep getting a team there with a good seed (Top 4 or so) year after year, you are probably eventually going to break through*

Motivated Cal.

Muss’ Elite 8s and Sweet 16 were a bit misleading and covered up some mediocre seasons

To me it’s pretty much tit for tat, I said tit..haha. Both bring in new players every year who are mostly one and done but cal is better in the regular season. Seems like it took muss too long to settle on a lineup and it cost him during the regular season.

Cal gets and uses top freshman players who are very good but veteran players usually have the upper hand for success, Muss showed how difficult it was to work with top freshmen one year.

Under the circumstances I’m happy with the hire.

Cal with BIG NIL vs. Muss with little NIL is a no-brainer.

I can assure you cal isn't changing how he coaches. Good luck with that.

I'd take either of them, but I'd rather have Cal today. I was getting soured on Muss. Every year his teams would have a big problem and he'd wait until the end of the season to fix it, if it got fixed at all. I'm also not a fan of pro coaching in the college game, because college teams need more refinement.

We were lucky to have Muss when we did and Danyelle was wonderful. I never wanted Muss to be fired, but I've been ambivalent about him for the last 2 years. Starting each season with a completely new team got old, as well.

our regular season records were terrible.... and it finally caught up with him. Cal by a landslide for several reasons.

Recruiting
PR
Better season records
leading to better seeding in tourney

I'm sorry that Muss left, but pretty excited to have Cal.

If Cal is motivated then we could have some immediate success.

I wish nothing but the best for Muss

Muss was so obnoxious. Glad he's out of the SEC.

The only mediocre season was the Sweet 16 run. The other two seasons were 25+ win seasons with Elite 8s.

If Muss would have done better in the regular season and got seeded better in the NCAA tournament then he would have had a final four here.

They would get tired of him just as quickly when he was at Arkansas.

I'll take the guy with six final four appearances vs the guy who caught some lucky breaks in the tournament.

Cal and it is a landslide.
