Our first bowl game, coming off our first conference title, was after the 1933 season and our opponents (who we tied in the Dixie Classic) were the Centenary Gentlemen... a legit southern powerhouse for a little while that posted a very respectable 68% winning percentage before the program fell on hard times and was cancelled.

Our first undefeated season actually happened 24 years earlier when Hugo Bezdek lead Arkansas to a monstrous 7-0 record where we outscored our opponents 186 to 18 using an older then dirt version of the hurry up offense.

Not that I expect us to have a winning record against them or anything but it's still shocking how lopsided our series with Bama is

It’s not shocking to anyone else but you. OM should have tried to play them EVERY YEAR since the late 1890’s like State has.

Damn, really? I walk around Centenary's campus a lot. Beautiful campus in my opinion. Bunch of hipsters go there though.

Joe Dumars and Robert Parrish played there as well.

I found one just the other day. Alabama defeated Texas A&M in the 1942 Cotton Bowl by a score of 29-21....despite only gaining one first down for the entire game.

Texas A&M had lost but two games in three years. Both to Texas. Deke Houlgate was so impressed, he awarded Bama his 1941 NC.

Definitely not my team, but until Mark Ingram broke through, it blew my gourd that Bama had never had a Heisman winner.

Texas A&M did not finish in the AP top 25 in the decade after women were able to enroll in the university.

Oklahoma is 0-3 against the SEC in NC/Playoff games. It would be nice to defeat an SEC team on a big stage with something big on the line.

Well it looks like officiating hasn’t changed much over the past 7 decades.

Either the 1994 LSU game or the 1985 Ole Miss game.

1994 LSU game, LSU's defense pitched a shutout with the exception of a single field goal after AU blocked an LSU kick in the first quarter. AU put up 30 points though thanks to 4 TDs scored by Auburns defense off 6 LSU turnovers. Just the most bizarre game I've ever seen.

1985 Ole Miss was probably the single worst beating one SEC team has ever put on another in league history. AU had over 600 yards, an SEC record number of rushing first downs, held the ball 3 quarters, ran over 100 plays and never punted. Ole Miss had like 7 or 8 yards, 1 first down, and ran 20 something total plays the entire game. Bo had 200 something yards in the second quarter.

1985 Ole Miss game.

True fact. The best highlight for Ole Miss in that game were a couple of returns by a specialty back named Willie Goodloe.

He was a high school classmate of mine. Super nice guy. Died in a car wreck a few years ago. He played at Colbert Co HS in northwest Alabama, which only a few years earlier produced Ozzie Newsome, Phil Gargis, and Thad Flanagan. Leon Douglas also played football on those same mid-70's CCHS teams but he ended up as a center at Bama playing basketball.

CCHs is in Leighton. I always thought that in the late 80's and early 90's, if I could have been guaranteed to get every recruit on that NW Alabama Hwy 31/20/72ALT corridor, I could have made a heck of a college team.

Hartselle, Decatur, Austin, Tanner, West Morgan, Courtland, Hazlewood, Colbert County, Colbert Heights, Cherokee, Sheffield, Muscle Shoals, and Deshler. Tons of state championships and heritage in that group.
