in 2008 right after the Vandy game there was a guy on Phillip Marshalls Auburn board went by the Username "BandMaster" he started spouting bullshite rumors that we were going replace Tubs with Bill Cowher
first it was "after the Arkansas game
then it was "after the West Virginia game"
then it was "after the Ole Miss game"
finally he started a thread with the following "For those wondering why Cowher to Auburn hasn't become official yet! its because they've been struggling to reach a reasonable contract agreement however everything has been finalized expect the announcement after the Iron Bowl or possibly right after the Georgia game"
Georgia game came and went.....still nothing so about two days before the Iron Bowl I sent him a message saying "So let me guess Cowher to Auburn will be made official after the SEC Championship or after bowl season?"
next thing I know he put me on block and never heard from him again during the postseason or after the iron bowl

Years ago, in the 1970s, there were rumors in Baton Rouge that Ara Parseghian was leaving Notre Dame to replace Cholly Mac, and that he had already bought a house in Baton Rouge.

It wasn’t a secret. It was reported Miles met with Jeff Long at his apartment when Long helped Miles get a raise from LSU. I tailgate with a couple that lived in the same building at the time and they never saw any nefarious activity, mainly just assistant coaches staying there when they worked late nights during the season.

That Kyle Trask will have a breakout “Burrow” type year in 2020 and Florida will make the championship game. That’s a bad one but nowhere near as stupid as Georgia actually having an offense with a Wake Forrest transfer quarterback. That’s a doozy. The worst one of all is that Mississippi State will go 15-0. That’s a pipe dream if I ever heard one. It’s actually the stupidest shite ever muttered on any message board, ever.

I heard a rumor UGA won it all once, but I was 5 and the Popeye movie had just come out so I was pretty wrapped up in that so I can't confirm it

I'm 100% convinced this was going to happen until Pitt upset WVU later that night and threw a wrench into everything. Absolutely no one saw Pitt winning that game. Miles wasn't going to leave if he was preparing for a national championship game but would have left if LSU was in the Sugar Bowl.
