LSU won 20-10. That's not exactly beating us "to a pulp"

The Tigers landmark victory is apocryphally considered what led Alabama coach Bryant to retire. The Bear stepped down as head coach at season's end, dying of a heart attack four weeks after his last win in the Liberty Bowl over the Fighting Illini.

In what Alabama coach, Paul Bear Bryant, would call their worst whipping since the 60's, LSU marched into Legion Field in Birmingham and left with a 20-10 victory, which did not tell the true story of LSU's dominance that November day in 1982. LSU jumped out early on Dalton Hilliard's 16 year run. Malcom Scott added a touchdown reception and Alabama fumbled the following kickoff. The Tigers added a field goal for 17-0 haltime lead. The Tide did not even manage a first down in the 1st half. Bama kicked a field goal early in the 3rd quarter and Dalton Hilliard fumbled on LSU's next possession, which Alabama converted for a quick touchdown pass. Just like that it was 17-10, but LSU bounced back and drove down and added a field goal and then dominated the rest of the game to take the win. Bear Bryant talked of retirement after this and would call it quits after this season.

Ok. Didn't know the details of the game. my bad. You are right. I will not agree about it leading to Coach Bryant retiring though His health had been declining for a few years by then

So I get heckled earlier for supposedly wanting to discount the years when we were on probation. Now you want to discount the years before we expanded the SEC (which was only Arkansas and USCe...they're irrelevant to this conversation). Funny how that works. What you're trying to do is lessen the period of time over this series so that you can focus in on the little blip on the radar I keep mentioning and make it seem larger. It's called zooming in.

Hey, you guys have all the credit in the world for beating us in the early 2000's, along with a lot of other teams that managed to do it also. But Bama and LSU have been playing football for decades, and we own LSU over that history. I'm really not trying to talk smack when I say this, but the record is hard to refute.

It is just fricking stupid to talk shite about dominance that happened before the average college student was even fricking born. I am an LSU alum and 24 years old.

LSU is 11-13 against the Tide. I don't give a shite really about anything that happened before I was born. I really don't give a shite about anything since the current eras of the SEC expansion (1992-present) or nationally (BCS; 1998-present).

Also my dad and grandfather are Auburn alums. During my lifetime Auburn is 14-10. Also another instance of I don't see Bama as this dominant force in the SEC.

I just really don't understand why Bama fans think anyone gives a frick about shite so long ago in the past. Yall just need to accept that yall are just one of the guys now.

It's not like our fans are the only ones that talk about past accomplishments. Every fanbase does it. I think one reason that the 60's and 70's are talked about so much is because Alabama was so dominant. More in the 70's than in the 60's. NO team will ever dominate the SEC like Alabama did in the 70's. The rest of the conference is generally too good for that now. It was something that you don't see anymore, so of course it's going to be talked about

So when you're 40, you won't be allowed to discuss the dominance you remember from when you were actually in college?

No, what's fricking stupid is a bunch of kids trying to tell adults what's fricking stupid.

Here's a clue, I've been a kid AND an adult, you've only been a kid. I know the difference, and you just don't.

Maybe if kids shut up and listenend to how it's going to be when they grow up, the adults may actually be able to carry on a conversation of their choosing without being interrupted by the children.

1-Does his daughter really need his supervision on campus?
2- Doubt it hurts if he gets a great NFL opportunity.
3- He was 15-17 in two seasons at a organization that needed to be turned around. He definitely wasn't horrible. Bill Belichick didn't really do better in 5 seasons at Cleveland and he is thought of as one of the greatest coaches ever.
4- Actually Parcells worked with the guy for awhile and I would think Jerry Jones is going to become more desparate after his teams recent failures.

I am not saying Saban will be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys; however, I wouldn't dismiss the possibility.

The Cowboys have a lot more talent than Miami did and the Cowboys are one of sports most valued organizations. If he moves now he probably has a good shot at 7-8 good years in the NFL.

I am sure if he wants the job he can probably have it and it really comes down to if he wants to win in the pros or not.

You missed the fricking point. The onset of Alzheimer's must be upon you in your old age.

Oh when do I get to become an adult? I have been looking forward to it. Need to know when I can start to vote, buy a house, get a rental vehicle, get married, and start a family. Please get back to me soon as I am definitely a planner.

I was stating that the Bama program is not the same anymore since the dominance that the fans spew didn't even occur during the lifetime of the average college student. If you want to reminisce of Bama accomplishments when you were a kid fine, but don't act like that is how the program has always been.

There's nothing factual about Saban going to Dallas,..yet. But here are some facts to mull over....

1) Jerry Jones would love to have Saban in Dallas.
2) The Cowboys are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball.
3) The media thinks there will be a coaching change in Dallas after this season. (I think it may be a year away)
4) It was assumed by many that the current OC would take over at head coach in the next few years, but that assumption is wrong.
5) ..and probably most importantly, Saban has kept quiet about the rumors.

My prediction is Nick Saban will be coaching Dallas starting Jan. 2012. Watch for signs of this next year.....

This doesn't make sense. Wade is gone by the end of the season. If Saban ends up their coach it will be after this college football season.

I am not saying it happens though.

This sounds just like a modern college kid...arrogant and ignorant, thinking their world should revolve around their own very limited realm of experience. And you didn't have to tell me your age. I probably could have guessed it by your use of the English language.

That's fine if it's how you want to be, but it's still called being selective.

Because your a young college kid. No offense, but wisdom and perspective comes through age. I know young kids hate being told that, because I hated it to when I was young. Now that I'm not so young, I realize I was foolish and naive. You will realize the same one day. It is inevitable.

We are not. We're in the elite, a place that LSU has only recently become a member, but as of late is slipping back out. History is what makes everything relevant. Bama has always been elite, but we slipped from there for a while because of NCAA infractions that we admittedly brought on ourselves. Again, one day historical perspective will mean something to you. Until then, continue to curse about how stupid it all is.

If I am so ignorant please explain to me how the 60s and 70s really matter when evaluating a current program.

My point was that over Julio Jones's lifetime that Bama has not been the dominant program many Bama fans lead people on to think.

I never said Bama was not an elite program. I respect them as far as what they did in the past and what they have accomplished recently. They do have 4 SEC titles and 2 NCs since Julio Jones has been alive. Recently (what their current players and recruits grew up with) Bama has not been vastly superior if at all to other elite programs in the SEC.

Over that time period:

LSU has 3 SEC titles and 2 NCs. 9-12 against Bama.

Auburn has 2 SEC titles and 2 undefeated seasons. 11-10 against Bama.

Florida 8 SEC titles and 3 NCs. 8-6 against Bama.

Nobody every said anything about evaluating a current program until just now. If you want to do that, then here it is. We're the reigning national champs.

What I said was that Bama owns LSU. Anyone who saw that would likely look at the record books to see what the series match-up looks like. They wouldn't start rambling about college age kids or anything else. Now you're talking about Julio Jones lifespan and using that for the measuring stick. By your same logic, why would we take Julio childhood years into consideration when evaluating this match-up, yet not consider Bobby Humphrey's childhood? It doesn't make any sense. History matters. You don't understand that because you only consider the history inside of your lifespan important.

Well consider this. My youngest son is 2 years old. He's just learning to pull for the Tide. I choose to only use his experience to judge this matchup. LSU really sucks. They've never beaten Bama. Anyone who uses any other period of time is just frickin' stupid.

See how silly that sounds?
