you acted like he took a pay cut just to come to Bama, he was done with the NFL; hed have done the same thing for any desirable coaching job in college.
Makes no sense for him to back to the NFL, hes got money and hes happy at Bama

quote:Dude, look out our record during that period. It's not like we were good against everyone else, but LSU had our number. Pretty much ALL decent teams had our number during that period.
Just like 03-07 right
Again, blip on the radar.

Did I act like that, or are you just sensitive and overreacting due to some deeply ingrained sense of inferiority? Should I have spared your feelings by saying, "he took a pay cut to come back to college football" rather than "he took a pay cut to leave the NFL and come to Bama"?

Nope, it just seemed like that reading it at first glance.
Im not a 60 year day laborer who will take a grudge with Saban to my grave no.
I have no inferiority, LSU won 2 NCs in 5 years; most people will never see that in a lifetime of watching college football
yes, thatd have been more specific
I stopped caring about Saban leaving LSU in 2004, he took a job in the NFL; it happens.
Youre grouping me in with a small minority of LSU fans, just as I did with Bama fans by taking your original comment out of context....

No coach will be hired or fired for some time, including Bum's son in Dallas all due to the ancertainty of the looming labor dispute in February. No owner has any confiedence that there will be football in August, so no big moves are made until this is all sorted out. Now if shakings occur, then the owners have confidence a labor agreement will be made and there will be no lockout.

Probably should be noted that the ones floating this "rumor" now, are likely the same ones that said "no way Saban leaves Miami for Alabama". Just sayin'.

Hell no! I want him right where he is that way we have something to build for to beat him at his own game. You never want to say that the other team is better than you, it means you are defeated before the game ever starts and that is called intimidation.
Respect is wanting to meet the challenge and winning is defeateing the chhallenge. In order to be the best you have to beat the best. Unlike what we saw this past Summer when Texas spent all their off season trying to make it easier for themselves instead of working at getting better in order to beat the best whoeverthat may be.
I will never give in to Saban or Bama. Like I said with Bama as long as Saban is there it is nothing to do with Bama and everything to do with Saban. That is why Jerry Jones will not go after him because he has to have control and he will not give his team's control to Saban or anyone else for that matter.

quote:I agree with this. I can't think of anything I like more than beating ANY Nick Saban coached team. Watching him throw his temper tantrums on the sidelines and blaming his players for anything and everything that goes wrong gives me great pleasure. - And there's no better time or place to witness this than this saturday in Tiger Stadium.

quote:No, it certainly counts. I'm giving you guys credit for making a blip on the radar in the series between these teams. I'm just also pointing out that the only time you were able to do it was when we were suffering from NCAA sanctions. I'm just point out that your little blip on the radar wasn't unique, and you guys had a little help just to get that.

Bama still owns LSU. It'll take a couple decades of you guys beating us consistently to change that.

Just as pathetic as Bama fans were when they were saying the same thing while Saban was at LSU.
How short some people's memories are - unless you're just a child and don't actually remember Alabama football before saban got there.

I dont think Saban will try the NFL again...he burned alot of bridges there.
That being said...its funny listening to all the Bama fans...
You DO realize that you sound EXACTLY like LSU fans when it was rumored Saban would go to the NFL for like 3 years running until it finally happened.
The same things were said. Why leave LSU where you have complete control...you arent dealing with a bunch of overpaid spoiled professionals....you OWN Louisiana and can have top 5 recruiting classes forever and compete for conference championships and National championships almost every year. No way he leaves...He will retire at LSU....blah blah blah.
Its the exact same thing only 5 years later and a different school.
While i doubt Saban would coach in the NFL again..especially for Jones...I wouldnt put it past Saban heading north to Notre Dame or Penn St. Who knows? The guy just doesnt like to sit still and gets bored easily.

quote:So I get heckled earlier for supposedly wanting to discount the years when we were on probation. Now you want to discount the years before we expanded the SEC (which was only Arkansas and USCe...they're irrelevant to this conversation). Funny how that works. What you're trying to do is lessen the period of time over this series so that you can focus in on the little blip on the radar I keep mentioning and make it seem larger. It's called zooming in.
Since SEC Expansion the seires is tied at 9 a piece.
Hey, you guys have all the credit in the world for beating us in the early 2000's, along with a lot of other teams that managed to do it also. But Bama and LSU have been playing football for decades, and we own LSU over that history. I'm really not trying to talk smack when I say this, but the record is hard to refute.

Its a shame Bo Rein was killed in a plane crash in '79 before getting to coach at LSU. I think things would have been alot different in the '80s and maybe the '90s.
That being said...at least LSU killed the Bear. After LSU beat Bama to a pulp in '82... The poor ole guy just wasnt the same after that whoopin....died not long after...RIP
