All this arguing is getting in the way of my dream of Saban leaving and Bama going after Dooley.

The fact that you gumps don't understand the basics is pretty funny. You must miss the LSU ads, the fact that the name is tigerdroppings, etc.

nfl labor situation is pretty uncertain with their contract expiring after this year. hiring a new HC at years end would be pretty stupid.

He took about a $1,000,000 pay cut to come to Bama.

That's only because he was failing. I like the guy (I'm not one of the Saban hating LSU fans) but money really is what this is all about, plus control. I think this is where he would turn down an offer. Jones is a well known megalomaniac. It wouldn't be a good fit for him or Saban.

He had a base salary of $4.5 plus incentives and endorsements. He took the Bama job for about $3.8 I believe.

ETA: $3.75

And Saban will make a minimum of 7.5 million a year in Dallas with a 5 year contract.

Saban is a whore and can be bought and sold. Its certainly not inconceivable that he would follow the money. To believe otherwise is simply ignoring the facts

You are right, but it was some sort of graduated payment system. His first year he only took home $3.5 million.

quote:

According to the Associated Press, Saban's base salary is $250,000. But an accelerating talent fee will see him earn a total of $3.5 million this season (2007) and top $4 million by 2010. Then there is a hefty incentives package, which promises Saban $25,000 for being named the SEC's coach of the year up to $125,000 for winning the SEC Championship and $400,000 for winning the national championship.

Saban's salary package will come up short of the $4.5 million per year he was paid to coach the Dolphins. But the opportunity to return to the college ranks, where he will stand out as a man among boys in the coaching profession, was too good a deal to pass up. For Alabama, the opportunity to lure a coach who won two SEC crowns and a national title in five seasons at LSU made the $32 million price tag well worth it.

Yall really think he leaves a place hes worshipped and can consistently win for another million dollars a year?

Dude is set for life as is.

Hes a West Virginia boy whos gonna retire in some plush lake house, not a 9000 sq ft mansion in 90210.

Money is not the issue at all in this whole thing, thus why hes not going anywhere.

My only problem with this idea is that every move he's made has been an "upward" move - with the exception of Bama. He went from Toledo to MSU, MSU to LSU, and LSU to NFL. He left the NFL to come back to one of college football's most storied programs. It's not like he's just chasing money around. It just usually works out that when you take a job with a higher level of prestiege - you also get a pay increase.

No problem.

It adds just as much as the other mindless dribble in this thread.
