You do not want any part of Texas in our league. They're like a hot chick with Aids. They're fun to frick with, but in the end they bite you in the arse and take your life.

Nope. Not at all.

To disband the conference requires a majority of memebrs:

If Texas, OU and OSU leaves the remaining teams can add three non-Power 5 teams to keep the league intact. That league would still own the rights of OU, Texas and OSU. Those rights combined are worth $600 million. That is a huge roadblock.

Texas will fight tooth and nail, but OU and OSU can file enough appeals to make the case last years beyond the Big 12 being abolished.

That would cost millions upon millions in legal fees. No conference is going to take new members with that kind of baggage hanging over them. Hence why Maryland settled for more than they thought they should.

Bingo. Unless OU and OSU can guarantee a way to dynamite the conference completely it would simply be too expensive to take them. You better believe that Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, Kansas, and KState would fight to the death to keep from getting left at the altar.

Troof

Arky and LSU are probably the only schools that can relate to dealing with this cancer (Arky by past association, LSU by all their alums in Texas). The rest of you get to "one night stand" them, and leave the next morning. They are an insufferable, delusional, selfish, entitled bunch of self-righteous fair-weathers that do NOT fit the culture of the SEC.

I speak from first-hand experience. I have a degree from that place.

Baylor alone will flex their legal muscles like never before. They built that stadium expecting those full Big 12 revenues. If that is taken away, they have REAL damages to account for. It will be a bloodbath.

See now I want this to happen just so I can sit back and revel in the glorious schadenfreude. Granted, I don't want it enough to take the Oklahoma schools or Texas.

I agree with everything you said. Keep that shite at a distance.

Now if Texas/OU tried to split for the PAC or B1G in seven or so years? Bring me some fricking popcorn.

JESUS H. CHRIST...
If Texas is on your expansion wish list I don't even know what to say.

Have you not been paying attention to the last 2 Conferences they have been in?

OU is not bolting for the SEc because the SEC does not have a spot for OU. The other universities would never approve them. They add nothing to TV contract, they are not AAU and they are tied to OK St which is a shittier version of OU.

It's not happening. If OU wants out they better start talking to the Pac 12

They already tried that last time. The PAC so no go without Texas.

Actually I think OU's best bet is the B1G.

BIG won't take them. They already loathe having Nebraska after getting kicked out of the AAU.

OU signed a GOR that lasts until 2025. That means that whatever conference took OU wouldn't own its media rights. OU could try to buy those rights back, but at $20 million a year on average for ten more years (including this calendar year) the cost for OU to leave the Big 12 right now would be $200 million dollars.

Even if the settled for half of that, so $100 million, it will still be way too huge for OU to afford. They are stuck. They should have made better decisions years ago.

the one against it sounds like he is stuck int he past and doesn't understand the landscape of modern CFB.

Right, I understand the 5 millions additional subscriber number is likely off, I just threw a number out there.

I guess it would come down to how many OU and Ok St fans in Texas already have SECN, but surely Texas subscribers would increase some.

One problematic issue people are touching on without coming out and exploring is that joining the SEC won't automatically make OU fans avid to watch SEC games other than OU. We're not going to see a huge uptick in "SEC!SEC!SEC!" in a fanbase that has, historically, little to do with the SEC.

This is why the Big 12 is in the position it is in. They have no forward thinking leaders in position to make any positive changes.

The package is pretty basic, anyone and everyone that cares about any college sport in any league already has and is paying for the package that includes the sec network, it was rammed down their throats already, they had no choice but to pay us our sec money

I understand your point but you don't think OU vs Bama, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, Florida etc... sound like better games than almost anything the Big 12 can offer? To me that is what makes the SEC so much fun. If you are a college football fan you want to watch those games.
