why are those strips of grass at the bottom of each sideline not seats? that doesn't make sense...it would put the fans closer to the action...

I can't imagine four SEC schools with football facilities that would rate below Missouri. I was there in October, and while they are not as terrible as some people like to suggest, they have a lot of work to do.

You mean you have it in your mind that Mizzou is worthless and plays in a small stadium.

The bedrock is too hard beneath it. It can't be done (feasibly)

Mizzou's stadium is basically in a pit - it was an old rock quarry, I believe. You enter from ground level, and go down to the better seats. The bedrock is the reason we can't have grass on the field - there's not proper drainage, and grass molds and dies on it. Some of the best groundskeepers around have tried, and failed. So, we have turf. The current location is also the best we have for the stadium, not really a good place to move it. The most logical place would be west of the current location, but that area is the University's golf course and my understanding is that it remaining that way is a condition of the donated land.
The boxes on the west side are being renovated and expanded for this season. The size of the grass hill has shrunk. That hill, and the rock M are traditions dating back over 100 years at Mizzou, as important there as the hedges in Georgia. It may not be your personal taste, but it's important here.
The foundations have been poured to add boxes on the east side of the stadium for 2014. I drove by them the other day, it'll make this year a little bit of a mess, but for 2014 it should be great.
In addition, they are currently improving facilities for golf, tennis, track & field, and soccer. There are plans for a new softball stadium, and some baseball improvements have already been made. I've also heard of a plan to build a new indoor facility that will be full-sized instead of 80 yds. Basketball needs no improvements at this time.
We know we have work to do, but we'll get there. We'll be We want to be in the upper half of the conference, facilities-wise. It's a work in progress.

+1000. Mizzou doesn't have stadiums like most places that are built up as structures from ground level. Our stadium is actually built down into the land
