I take it you actually think Arkansas is clean?

What reason do you have to believe we're dirty?

The day we all of a sudden start bringing in the elite prospects out of the blue like Auburn, I'll give you some credit.

It's pretty simple to cover up cash payments if you aren't too brazen about it. SMU got caught because they were stupid enough to send stuff through the mail thinking they were untouchable. It's literally impossible to uncover hard evidence of a trashbag full of hundred dollar bills unless the NCAA sets up a sting operation or something.

True, cash is untraceable, but if there was ANY type of indication the Newtons all of a sudden came into a lot of money, it would've been written about.

Read this article by Thayer Evans

Does it paint a picture of a Cecil newton who just got 200k or a Cecil Newton that doesn't have any money.

Dumbass? As I've said before, if we paid Cam 200k, we'd know about it by now.

you don't hide 200k from the media these days, especially not Cecil and Cam newton

You're about gullible sob. How hard do you think it is to stick $200,000 in a safe deposit box in a bank?

AU's compliance director:

quote:

I was so impressed with Cam, just the way he handled the situation,” McGlynn said. “I was mesmerized by the manner in which he handled himself...… I think that falls back to their fundamental belief in God. They always went back to ‘We’re going to stand on the Rock.’ Does that mean people are perfect? No. Does that mean they didn’t make mistakes? No. I think they would come back and admit to their mistakes. But we’re all human and all make mistakes

This guy is definitely not drinking the AU kool-aid. Sounds like a true pro.

Your AD sounds more like a fanboy than an AD. A true foot solider for the AU holy trinity: God, Family, and Chiz.

quote:

“I knew we had a pretty good argument that Cam had very little culpability,” McGlynn said. “In fact, none. I think we put a really strong argument together that, although technically this bylaw might have been violated, it does not warrant withholding an individual from competition

I can only imagine listening to a recording of this conversation between AU's compliance director and mega-homer Phillip Marshall: "...Cam had very little culpability...err, not very little culpability, that's bad wording...in fact, none!"

After listening to it, about the only think it sounds like he's debunking is the notion that they (yahoo) somehow are sitting around doing some kind of viral marketing campaign in advance of this story. I don't think anyone thought that to begin with, so I'm not sure that really tells us anything.

He never comes out and says that there is no story in the works. He just laughs at the idea of people sitting around trying to figure out who the article is about.

FWIW, even after listening, I still believe there will be an article coming out soon and that it will be a big one, as Robinson himself claimed. I do, however, question the rumor that it is indeed about an SEC West school.

Actually, I'm not sure that he denied that they were working on a story about an SEC West team. He just ridiculed the notion that they somehow leaked the idea that there would be a story about an SEC West team that wasn't Arkansas or Ole Miss.

I'd have much preferred if he had categorically denied that there was a story coming soon about an SEC West team. I don't think it will be us, but you never know.

Clay Travis was right the second time. It was more "noncommital" than a denial.

We're all doomed.

How do you figure? It might not be about the SEC, but he sounded pretty noncommittal. If anything, he really kind of avoided talking about a possible story by making a joke out of it.

Again, read Thayer Evans article, he has 200k but he's going around asking people for a pay plan to pay a 1700 dollar debt.

Makes perfect sense.

No, he believes that Thamel has completely fabricated these quotes and inserted the names of SEC coaches in a pathetic attempt to gain credibility, and then write a story that has absolutely no truth to it. Because Thamel hates Auburn, and personally has it out for Chizik.

No I believe that Thamel had to get a quote from a basketball coach, because no one else would corroborate his story. Thamel has a long history of writing stories on Auburn and still has egg on his face with the Cam Story. Many of his fellow writers blasted him for lack of jounalistic integrity. Why not quote a source from the NCAA, he is a writer for the NYT afterall. Someone like Kirk McNair does not need a motive.
