Has a conference ever removed a team from their group?

Or was it individual teams that decided to go elsewhere?

Interesting to see it done due to competitive balance of being too good.

Those were in a different era and a less complicated scenario. With the money through the conference and media contracts this would be a chaotic disaster that no one will want to attempt. It would be great to do it... but... it's never going to happen.

Didn't the Big East kick out Temple in the early 2000's?

Big 12 will talk a big game but they won't remove Tech. One thing will always be more important than the integrity of the game.

We all know the Big 12 can always bring the matter before the zebra court that meets every Saturday where there are no appeals. A phantom tug on a jersey seen on a few crucial plays and all that money and bad press will get you is the Alamo Bowl
