Evans is no Calvin Johnson but he may have that ceiling. He's more physical than Johnson but not as fast or as polished. He has the same "feel" though of just a man amongst boys.

I do think Evans is the odds on favorite to be the first WR ever penalized for targeting a defenseless Defensive Back though.

Truthfully his routes are just ok but they are improving. Where he excels though is using his body to create space between the DB and the ball which is a very rare skill. You can see a ton of passes he catches that look like the DB should be able to make the play but Evans just gets his body between the ball and the DB, he must have been a hell of a rebounder in basketball.

And we'd all love it, suspension be damned.

The best comparison is Vincent Jackson when he was at his best. He's fallen off a bit. They're about the same size though and comparable speed wise

I agree

He is not as good as AJ Green. AJ has the best body control I've ever seen and has glue on his fricking hands.

They are just different. Green is so polished an he's obviously an incredible athlete but he doesn't have the raw strength and leaping ability Evans has. How good Evans becomes in the NFL will be completely up to him as the sky is the limit. He has been developing at an incredible rate so far though. Some guys get money and lose the motivation but I don't think he's that type

I saw a facemask penalty against Evans during the OU game and 2 holding calls in the Auburn game. Solid choice of gifs.

I just picked those to show its not all jump balls and he actually does run routes.

I'm not saying he's as good as Calvin Johnson (obviously), but their style of play is very similar.

LOL

WUT

HUH

HOW...

I am out of here. This guy just said a college WR has better leaping ability than one of the best high point catching WRs I've ever seen. Just because the dude didn't jump that high at the combine doesn't mean he can out leap just about anyone in the NFL on the field. AJ was also a very good basketball player that could do outrageous dunks like Evans.

Evans does that in a pack of defenders and rips the ball out.

He is the best I have ever seen at taking the ball. Period.

He will only get better.

I don't see him doing that with four defenders draped all over him in any of those pics

I mean if Evans runs a 4.7 at the combine I can talk all about his "game speed" and dumb shite like that but at the end of the day that's the number people will point to. It is what it is. I agree Green was a much more polished product at this point in his career. Better route runner, better hands, better body control and field awareness. Evans is stronger and better at getting the ball in the air in a crowd.

And I'm not comparing Evans to Green now. Green is an All Pro in the NFL. I'm comparing Evans to Green when he came out of college

yeah I'm pretty sure Mike Evans and Ryan Swope were a better tandem than Beckam/Landry

He looked pretty fast on the 95 yarder vs. the tide
