I agree 15 is too much. The conf champ games are nice, but it seems the SEC gets short end of the stick compared to other conferences since we regularly have more than one team that could arguably be in the playoffs but we end up beating each other up.

If we did the 8 team playoff it would look something like this this year:

Round 1
Alabama vs Michigan
Clemson vs UCF
Notre Dame vs UGA
OU vs OSU

If we got rid of conf champ games then UGA would be seeded higher since they wouldn't have lost to Bama in the SECCG, and would have played OSU in the first round.

Your also going to see more blowouts in the playoffs. How many times do we get dogshit final four games in CBB because a Cinderella beat the 1 seed and then gets blown out. That’s what’s going to happen when they continue to increase the playoff scope.

shite, that already happens in almost every semi-final game that's been played in the CFP. Why people want to see the #1 team and #2 team blow the doors off the 7 and 8 teams is beyond me.

That's completely different when you have 32 at large teams ..

We are talking about 1 loss P5 conf champs not getting in.

I notice the only people complaining are UGA, OSU, and UCF fans. Wonder why? OSU and UGA had every opportunity to play their way into the playoffs. UCF doesn't schedule good teams when they have the opportunity to do so. Deal with it, try again next year.

It’s funny how the B1G is at the forefront of championship expansion.

They didn’t like the old Bowl Alliance, pushed for the BCS.

They didn’t like the BCS after 7 in a row and LSU vs. Bama, pushed for the 4-team CFP.

B1G misses the CFP three out of five years, wants an 8-team playoff.

frick the B1G and Jim Delaney.

8 is too many. Needs to be 6. Bottom 4 play a play in game on campus week after championship weekend. Keep the rest the same.

Why wouldn't ESPN want 4 more playoff games to broadcast between top 10 opponents?

Because what is being pushed does not guarantee top 10 teams. If the model is expanded to guarantee conference champs we could just as easy see this year 4 teams ranked 15, 17, 22, & NR. Let me tell you how exciting and high the TV ratings would be to see 2 teams with 3 losses, a 4 loss, and a 5 loss team. Where do I get my tickets for those games.

If you go to 8(which it will in a few years) it still needs to be focused on the best teams. Conference champions only guaranteed if they finish top 10 in the rankings. Best G5 the same way.

So this year the 8 would have been UA, UGA, CU, ND, OU, OSU, UCF, and UW. UM even though they finished ahead of UW, UW would get in because they were a conference champ and finished in the top 10. So every conference has a legit chance for their champ to get it.
