Players are just catching up to coaches who had a 15 year head start on that...

It's only a matter of time before players start opting out of playoff games. If you don't think it won't happen then you're not paying attention.

Either that or they will ask for more money to play in the playoffs.

Yep. I’ve been saying this for a couple of years. Unless NIL has stipulations written in the agreements. At which point the NIL collabs can go after the player for monetary damages once they are in the league

The problem you have is that it's more popular than it has ever been and making more money than it ever has. Sorry

Lag effect. College football was more popular than ever during the BCS era. It was going meteoric before all the changes.

Then someone decided it needed to be butchered into 1000 pieces. Mega-conferences, NIL, non-restricted portal, playoffs with eventually 32 teams playing into February, bowl games with wide receivers playing quarterback, high-schoolers getting $12 million dollar deals, etc.

Humans know how to frick up a really good thing for short term profit. In 10 years college football will be seen like AA minor league games. Fun to go to every now and then with the kids to watch a future MLB player or two but not something you plan an entire half-year around and swear allegiance to.

Oregon has made 1 playoff since 2014. They have been good, but they are new blood.
Same with Penn State.
Indiana hasn’t been this good ever.
SMU is the definition of new money/blood.
Texas is a big name but hasn’t won shite since the mid 2000’s.
Boise State is a first time playoff team
Clemson hasn’t been in the playoffs since 2020
Tennessee hasn’t won shite since the late 90’s
Arizona St was just a doormat/dumpster fire not too long ago
ND has been irrelevant to the championship since 2012 and even then everyone knew they where just the sacrificial lamb to whichever team won the SEC.

Basically the only playoff retreads that we have are UGA and Ohio state and these schools have top line talent, but their stranglehold on depth of talent isn’t there.

The Truth formally acknowledges LSU fans as the second smartest group of fans on this board, only behind Georgia.
