It's an old rivalry between the two winningest programs in conference history. I think it's particularly hateful because Alabama and Auburn didn't play for so long Bama and Tennessee were terrific programs through the 1980s.

I'm looking forward to the rematch with FSU in the season opener. They beat us 3 times when I was a student: 2 close losses at home (1989, 1991) wrapped around an arse-kicking in Tallahassee in 1990.

What is weird to me is that some grudges follow players/coaches rather than the team they played for (once they’re no longer there), but some do.

For example, once Tommy Tubs (and later Cam Newton and Nick Fairley) was no longer at Auburn, I didn’t hate the Plainsman for the cigar game anymore.

I can tell it really bothers you the only credit A&M gets is for having gay cheerleaders, forfeiting games, and having hick trash for a head coach who cheats and cries about it on national television.
