The amount of weak fouls that are being called across the board are ridiculous. It’s almost shocking when there are 3 straight exchanges without a whistle. When we joined the league the SEC was known for physicality but now the refs have turned this into a soccer match with teams and coaches playing for the foul. Can’t blame them, but this is garbage to watch.

I had to turn off the game last night when we had about 8 fouls 7 minutes in. We dont go deep on the bench and about 3 guys had 2 fouls by that point. It was over. Why cant they just let the players play a little bit and not make themselves so much a part of the game just so they get noticed? We foul the least amount of any SEC team and a short Arkansas team shot 54 FTs last night against us. The most anyone shot on us all season long was 29. the most fouls we committed in any other game was 25, they called 35 last night without an overtime

We get fouled a lot with the way we play and the most FTs we've shot all season is 36

Glad I didn't watch that shitshow.

Although I was rather young in the 80s, I don’t remember at all the excitement and high scoring of contests that were being played. There weren’t many whistles I suppose either.

Oklahoma, for example, would have winning scores of 110 plus, 120 plus, 130 plus, some 140s all the way up to scoring 173 in a game while giving up 101.

Bring back that kind of up tempo basketball.

SEC refs suck, FACT.
And it's all around. Most nights it's a pretty unbiased sucking.
Last night it was flat out criminal in the LSU game.
Nothing against Ark, hell Jones may be the best player. In the league. But damn that was horrible.

It's true, and LSU has benefited from it plenty this year lest anyone think this is sour grapes.

We routinely get to the line 25-30 times per game. It's common to see the last 8-10 minutes of a game spent with both teams in the bonus.

The amount of touch fouls is ridiculous. The amount of flopping that gets rewarded only encourages more flopping. I still watch every game but it's just a bad product right now.

They were whistle happy for sure. To be fair LSU absolute mauled down in BR and got away with it. The biggest issue is the refereeing is completely inconsistent from night to night.

I can watch a few minutes here and there and will pay more attention if LSU is good, but overall it's not a sport I personally like that much. If my team isn't playing it can be a #1 vs #2 primetime matchup and I rather watch a Football reprise anyday.

I'll be honest, had the free throw shooting discrepancy gone against Arkansas we'd be bitching up a storm. I know this because its happened to us a few times this season. Its happened to everyone recently. Last night was LSU's turn in the barrel.

Between rampant TV time outs and a never ending parade of free throws the games have become a chore to watch. Hell, if I'm a basketball coach 50% of all training I'd have my team do would be shooting free throws.

They have got to do something to change things around or the sport is going to wither on the vine. Yes, they do let them play a bit more in the NCAAT but it would be nice to see that in the regular season as well.

LSU's entire team was in foul trouble. Four starters had 4 fouls with 16 minutes left.

Not sure what you're supposed to do with that. Ridiculous game.

I'd say more of inconsistent play to play.

Why can't the players play the game without contact? It's not supposed to be football.

I disagree with the notion that if they're not calling the fouls on one side, they should be calling them on the other. They should be calling them on both sides until players learn how to play the game with discipline.

Stolen from the rant. It's not one team's problem...but a league problem.

Total fouls called this season:

— SEC: 7,746 (553 per 14 teams)
— ACC: 6,979 (465 per 15 teams)
— Big Ten: 6,466 (461 per 14 teams)
— Pac-12: 5,968 (497 per 12 teams)
— Big East: 4,970 (497 per 10 teams)
— Big 12: 4,864 (486 per 10 teams)

We foul the least amount of anyone in the conference, yet Arkansas shot 54 free throws last night, almost double anyone else has shot against us all year. Please tell me how you dont see that as an obvious outlier. you cant possibly believe even close to those 35 fouls were legit.

SEC refs have the stats to show they call way more fouls in this conference compared to the other power conferences, it's a problem, they are making themselves more a part of the game for no reason. They are calling 4-6 fouls more per game than any of the other power conferences are.

Exactly. Especially when the average in the SEC is 40 total fouls between both teams, yet LSU gets called for 35 by itself last night. I'm not buying it.
