RPI is not relevant this early in baseball. Just like its not relevant in Nov/Dec in basketball.

I'm sorry your team isn't ranked higher and plays $hitty schedule.

I hate our early OOC. Other than playing in state teams, I wish we'd schedule powerhouses and prep for the SEC.

Always thought Missouri would be a good baseball school. Their fans have a high interest in the MLB. Would think it would translate down to the college level for them.

Your comment from the baseball polls thread:

Too early in the season to put anything into polls much like the RPI

Riddle me this guys who have more knowledge about this than I. How is SOS calculated? Is it based on the RPI of your opponents or is it more complex than that?

RFP: To calculate it, divide the sum of all opponents' win percentages, excluding those games played against the team for which RPI is being calculated, by the total number of opponents. Opponents' opponents' win percentage is the average winning percentage of a team's opponents' opponents.

SOS = 2(OR) + (OOR)/3

OR = Opponents Record
OOR = Opponents Opponents Record

That's one way they do it in football. I think baseball does it this way too.

I would think it would have the opposite effect as they're used to the highest level of baseball and most people who love professional hate collegiate

RPI is so irrelevant at this point of the season.

It's been a decade since Tennessee has made the postseason.

It will be interesting to see if they can sneak in as a 3 seed somewhere this year.

No kidding. What's weird though is even if it was, what makes UT's RPI so high? I can see Ole Miss jumping with their weekend this past but Tennessee has a couple of wins against Memphis but big whoop!

Who gives a chit at this point of the season? We have an RPI of 127, and have played one of the tougher early season schedules we've played in a while. We just got done with a tournament filled with ranked teams, and Central Michigan was surprisingly solid. They are picked to win their conference and possibly play a little postseason ball.
