If I had said a month ago “Troy will make Omaha, Auburn won’t” - no one would’ve bought it.
Cinderella still lives and it’s nice to see.
That said, St John’s….dont think about it

Anyone who follows baseball at any level wouldn't have ruled it out

This is less about Troy and more about Auburn shitting the bed.

I love the NCAA Basketball tournament but the NCAA baseball tournament is equal to it for me. You see a lot of crazy shite

Troy has a good baseball program. It's not that crazy they advanced considering we usually get one Cinderella every year.
Auburn's resume was propped up in part by a sky high RPI due to SOS. They are a good team but they lean strongly on 4-5 sophomore pitchers. At this point the innings and pitch counts are wearing on those heavily used arms and a slight breakdown wasn't that unexpected. We didn't have the bats to overcome it.

I don’t know if I like or hate the idea that baseball is so unpredictable. The best team doesn’t always win. One millimeter off on a fastball is the difference between a 3-run homer and an inning-ending out. It’s fun to watch, though.

No comparison. March madness draws more than any sport.
Baseball at the college level isn’t as big as college softball or women’s basketball.
It closer to track than women’s basketball. Softball blows baseballs
Numbers out of the water

“they lean strongly on 4-5 sophomore pitchers”
If everyone returns that can return Auburn is absolutely loaded for next year

quote:the beauty of the post season tournament in baseball as opposed to football or basketball, is if the better team loses a game on an off night or a night when an opponent plays above their heads, the better team still gets the opportunity to fight its way back

Don't know about this. Softball doesn't make ESPN until OKC. During baseball regional play, they dedicate entire days to covering all of the games. Softball regionals don't get nearly the same amount of coverage.

On topic, college baseball easily has the best postseason format. I hope they never change it.

Correct. Softball blowing baseball out the water is not correct. At the very least they are pretty dang close.

Didn’t Murray State make it last year?
