Was he complaining Week 1 in 2007 where there was only 1 ranked matchup. That turned out to be one of if not greatest college football seasons of all time.
By the way Tennessee lost that game

Pretty much the only SEC team that played a P5 opponent week 1 every year since Saban arrived.
Do we want to count P5 opponents?
Do we want to count P5 road games?
Do we want to count mileage traveled out of conference?
Do we want to count opposing P5 wins vs P5?

I agree wholeheartedly with his assessment...
What does he think will change to make the games more interesting? The teams are all the same. Is he thinking it will force teams to play against each other with them being in the same conference?
That's all I can think of.
If the conferences keep getting bigger they will become impossible to handle their scheduling. The conferences will continue to protect the bigger, better teams and we will have the same crappy games....although I like the games we have now.

Sorry that hurt your feelings. Just browsing through a few of UGA's week 1 openers since Saban, you've got ULM, Louisiana, Buffalo, Austin Peay and Vandy by comparison.

I don't think the problem was who you were playing so much as Alabama was so good other teams struggled to stay on the field with you.
VT
Colorado State
West Virginia
Wisconsin
Fresno State
Louisville
Duke
Great that y'all could have played cupcakes, but these were all pretty meh opponents. Not your fault. They just can't match up.

He said there is a dearth of really good college football games, and that is the issue with CFB.
So explain the first 150 years of college football then. I'll hang up and listen.

UGA's week 1
Should I list out the 2nd P5 opponent for all of Sabans tenure each season?
Or list out all of the week 2 through week 12 P5 opponents for Saban's entire tenure at Alabama?
I'm guessing the week 2 through week 12 P5 OOC opponent list compared to UGA (or UF or Scar or Kentucky) would look like dog water.

Other than Duke, they were all good when we scheduled the games. shite happened though and we still have to hear this narrative. It's a consequence of having to schedule these games 7-10 years in advance

I just looked at Bama 2023 and saw Middle Tennessee in week 1.
You do know that we can Google bama's opponents.
Or is this a direct example of your response "pretty much".

And what about those played on a PS5?

What do you mean "why"? He says Bama plays a cupcake schedule except for LSU/AU until the SEC Championship every year. I then provided our out of conference slate over the last 16 years to prove him wrong.

I think everyone needs one cupcake early since there is no preseason in college football, could even have a preseason week, like last week of August where everyone plays a cupcake, keeps those economies afloat, and then no cupcakes the rest of the way, or each get one in late october/early november for a chance to rest and fine tune.
At the rate things are going it's going to be two mega conferences split into divisions like the NFL. You will probably have preseason games.

You're right, we should have scheduled the 49ers those years. Scheduling is a two way street and the other schools have to agree.

Which would certainly change the dynamic and likely end the cupcake games.

Is that why Bama's scheduling is improving?
