First time going to the Cocktail party, anyone have any tips or suggestions? I'm an LSU fan and will likely be wearing gear so I expect a good share trash talk. But momma aint raised no bitch.
EDIT: Will not be wearing LSU gear bc looking back at it, that is dumb

First, don’t wear LSU shite to the cocktail party. Wear something neutral if you don’t want to pick a side.
Second, if you’re just going to Jacksonville and not one of the surrounding islands, either find a party to post up at (a lot of the bulldog and gator clubs from surrounding cities set up all you can eat and drink parties for like $35 a head) or just wonder around outside the stadium and by the river. There’s just a lot of crazy shite to see, nothing in particular you have to do or see short of drink and enjoy
Also, if you don’t have parking lined up the city runs buses from outside one of the monorail stations and drops you off at the stadium and picks you up postgame. It’s super easy to get to on and off the interstate and not expensive.

Nah it is a great scene. Had great experience with the UGA crowd. I guess it has to do with being on neutral sight but it is just as much party as football game.
Just walk around and enjoy the food and eye candy.
Do your best not to be an LSU douche would be my only suggestion...i kid.

I'm pretty tame but something neutral may be the play

Oddly enough, most of the fights take place in the stadium and after the game. I can’t ever recall a fight outside pregame. Despite what you may read here, the two fanbases are surprisingly amicable pregame. But postgame I’d recommend keep your head down and GTFO. No matter who wins or loses, it’s can get dicey. 2007 and 2015 in particular were nasty postgame, fans trying to flip buses, throwing bottles at each other, etc

I've never understood people at a sporting event wearing gear of a team not playing.

Damn I must be going to the wrong places then, but even my post game experiences were pretty tame. Don't doubt it happens though. College kids and alcohol make for serious entertainment.

2007 was a mix of Florida fans being pissed that they got pantsed in humiliating fashion by UGA and UGA fans laying it on thick.
2015 I have no idea why but I was on a UGA bus out of town and a bunch of Florida fans saw us sitting in traffic and walked over screaming at us with a few trying to pry the bus doors open to get on and the rest rocking the bus on either side. It was wild, never seen that before or since

The ONLY time I can see it being acceptable is if it's plain as day obvious that the gear in question shows your allegiance. Like if OP was wearing FSU gear, obviously it'd be a little jab at UF and he'd be welcomed in by the UGA contingent.
Wearing LSU gear to this game is just odd and a lame cry for attention, IMO.

I guess I shouldn't wear anything with lsu on it lol

Hey you're an adult you can do as you please. Just seems odd given the setting. I wouldn't deck out in UGA gear if I were attending the lsu/bama game.

Fair enough... mostly said I would be wearing lsu stuff to show i have no experience at this game but poor wording will do that

Yeah it is normally tame and if it gets dicey you can usually just walk 20 yards away from it and be fine.
That sucks about the bus thing though.
Also there is a Fall baseball game between the 2 schools right next to the football stadium for the first time ever on Friday night. It will be followed by a Brett Young concert and fireworks for $15.

Sit on the UG side, in the 4th quarter you will have a lot of leg room. Boom!
Downside, the first 3 quarters you will have to put up with grown men, women and children barking like mutts.

Just wear a no-contact jersey and you'll be fine
