yall have 1 winning season in the last 4 years
It'll be 1 out of 5 come the end of the season. They're not crawling out of the cellar this year, that's for sure.

Ahh yes, the NFL is know for great quarterback evaluations!

1st year starter at QB who didn’t throw a single pass in 2nd half of previous season, replacing 4/5 OL, TE and leading WRs.
Replacing entire DL and majority of secondary.
But wait, the QB who couldn’t beat out a 7th round pick has two uncles that played in the NFL???
Pre-season #1, for sure.
I don't disagree, but there's no team that's head and shoulders above everyone this year. Every team in the top 10 has multiples flaws and areas of concern. This year is wide open.

Texas defense is stacked with the pass rush. Will be tough to beat if they get a large lead.
My question would be strong power ball control offenses that play keep away and avoid obvious passing downs.
And does the Texas OLine dominate as well as last year?
OU game will be a good indicator…

As has already been said, this is the first time in program history Texas has been ranked the preseason #1.
I honestly think a big part of why Texas is ranked where it is, is because of the admission into the SEC. Even with this roster - and they wouldn't have this roster if they were in the Big 12, conference affiliation was a huge benefit to recruiting, especially in the southeast - I do not believe the coaches rank Texas #1 coming out of a lesser conference.

Our OL will have to take a step back due to inexperience. I'd be shocked if they were as good as last season.
I do think the Offense is going to struggle at times and it's going to fall on the defense to win some games, just like last year.
SEC is wide open this season. Any of a bunch of teams could win it this year.

This is why I can't ever take the coaches poll seriously.

Why are you always throwing a conniption in every thread Texas is mentioned?
Aren’t you supposed to be honoring a self-ban btw?

Everyone get ready for the Texas knob slob fest all season long.

LSU plays 6 of the top 25.
Any list of others' number of opponents in the poll?

Yeah. That game will be a ton of fun but, long season ahead.
I would expect both teams to lose a conference game. Ohio State to Michigan and Texas to Georgia.

Texas had #1 recruiritng classes while in the Big 12. Texas had back to back to back to back top 5 classes while in the Big 12. Don't confuse Texas with A&M.

I'm not confusing Texas with anyone.
Texas was getting fisted in recruiting during the last year of Tom Herman's coaching reign. A big obstacle was trying to recruit against the SEC schools out of the Big 12.
Those back to back classes you're referring to were after the announcement Texas was heading to the SEC.
Also, since joining the league Texas has recruited the southeast better than they have their entire history.
The last time Texas had the #1 class was early in Mack Brown's tenure when he was making offers before anyone else. Once Saban got to Alabama and started beating Brown to the punch, and worked with third parties in a way Mack Brown refused to, recruiting wasn't as elite any more.
The allowance of NIL and the grassroots efforts by Texas boosters has helped immensely, too, but being in the SEC has been a huge boon to recruiting.

Lovely. LSU has a tougher schedule than everyone else in the top 10. Opening at Clemson is completely asinine in the playoff era.
