And you are some kind of blind if you think Clowney, Mariotta, Miller, Lee, etc didn't do the same thing.
Only matters what they can prove.
Fortunately for A&M (so far) the broker is refusing to cooperate with the NCAA on any investigation.
quote:
At one point [in the video], ESPN heard a broker ask Manziel if he would take additional cash to sign with special inscriptions, but Manziel declined, indicating he had done that before and it led to questions.
The sentence above surely got the NCAA's attention. Please point me to where someone claims to have video of Clowney making statements like Manziel is alleged to have made in the broker's video.
I'm sure lots of athletes get paid for memorabilia while in school and still eligible. I'm not blind to that. Only one in the news is the one stupid enough to say something with a camera rolling and whose family has apparently made the memorabilia folks pissed off by trademarking "Johnny Football" and triggering eBay to institute a 2 week ban.
I don't blame Johnny or his family but trying to keep the revenue from his name in the family but the NCAA doesn't give a shite. This may end up being the best thing to ever happen (in the long run) for players seeking to end the NCAA's feudalistic scheme of owning all the fruits of their labor. In the short run, Johnny better have Jerry Jones on speed dial for next year's draft.

Again I ask why the broker would only say he paid Manziel instead of saying he paid a shite load of football players
I can think of at least a couple of reasons.
1) The aforementioned eBay issues related to trademark issues re: "Johnny Football" or some other axe to grind with JFF.
2) Like Willie Lyles, his entire livelihood is based on leeching off players. Doesn't want to burn any more bridges than absolutely necessary. Precisely why dude does *not* want to cooperate with NCAA investigation (at this time).

The NCAA targeted Manziel long before the butthurt broker interview last Tuesday.
The Manziel's cost the broker a lot of money when they trademarked "Johnny Football"

It's over for Clowney bc in 2 hours USCe said there was no infraction?
So you don't think that the NCAA will care one bit that there are still 100s of sequentially numbered autographs online, along with pictures of him in hotel rooms with autograph brokers.
Although possible, I think you are being a little optimistic. I believe that when they found the Manziel autographs, they unintentionally stumbled into an underground slimy business where elite players have been taking cash under the table for some time.

Is there a broker claiming he paid Clowney? No
Is there a broker claiming he paid Manziel? Oh, thats what the NCAA is investigating?
Makes sense that if the USC compliance staff didn't find anything and no one comes forward and says they paid Clowney that the NCAA will be staying in College Station and not have anything to do with Columbia

Bottom line is none of this shite matters at all. No broker is going to ruin his life by cooperating and giving testimony to the NCAA. Not to mention proving its not a lie in the first place. The only way it ends in punishment is if there is bank record proof or photo/video evidence of any money changing hands for either player.

Manziel was targeted by the NCAA long before any "brokers" said anything.
Said anonymous "brokers" were completely kicked off ebay and lost a shite pot of money when "Johnny Football" was trademarked. The revenge motive is there to cause manziel problems is there.
There is now too much hard data out now on other players autographing in large volumes. If the NCAA goes after Manziel with circumstantial evidence, he won't be by himself.

Poor Manziel. He really does have it hard. Maybe we should be forced to walk a day his shoes.
Sarcasm: On [Off]
Again I think its pretty telling that USC has cleared Clowney and the coaches have commented on it while aTm hasn't said a word and Sumlin avoided the topic almost as well as Manziel avoids sobriety and good decisions.

Manziel is currently under investigation.
Clowney is not.
Point is moot.

Far from over for Clowney and others. Lot of information being gathered right now and held for future use. It's not going to be pretty if all this comes out.

If Georgia paid for AJ Green, then they are even dumber than I thought. Dude was going to Georgia one way or another.
Terry just didn't have the chest to play for Spurrier.
