No idea why, but it always feels like Clemson (SC in general) is a world away from Tennessee.

It's the mountains man - we may have mastered technology and brought the world together, but there is still something about a big ole mountain chain that makes places that are close as the crow flies seem worlds apart.

Also, if you look at a map, Clemson is way up in NW South Carolina. It is only about 30 miles from the North Carolina border (Cashiers area) and only 90 miles from Gatlinburg. That's a long, hard 90 miles up and down mountains though (Cashiers, Cullowhee, Cherokee, the whole Smoky National Park).

It's weird how infrequently Arkansas has played Oklahoma in football.

Kansas, well....I never think of Kansas. I guess we are relatively close up here in Fayetteville.

Clemson is only 60 miles further from Knoxville than it is Columbia. And it's about 60 miles closer to Athens than Columbia.

Too close for my taste.

Whereas we've played Tulsa more often than we've played some teams from the SEC West. It is odd how these things work out.

And at:
- 301 miles to Starkville (4 hr, 35 min)
- 340 miles to Oxford (5 hr, 7 min)
- 349 miles to Tuscaloosa (5 hr, 4 min)
- 360 miles to College Station (5hr, 27 min)

There are only 4 SEC schools within 400 miles to Baton Rouge.

That is quite the bubble in one of the most talent rich recruiting areas in the country.

If you're in the central southern states, getting to Tallahassee is actually a pretty easy drive, even though it takes a few hours. Certainly worth a trip to see a game.

It's surprising how "out in the middle of nowhere" Tallahassee is, or at least it was to me.
