Got another reply on this:

Hello ,

Thank you for contacting us.

According to current FCC guidelines, new networks have a 4 year window in which to provide 100% captioning. With the SEC Network launch on August 14th, 2014, it will be fully closed captioned on or before August 14, 2018. ESPN is working to caption a certain amount of programming from the start. There will be a focus on college football games and the related studio programming as well as college basketball games.

Surprised you got a legit response. Good to hear they will have it before next football season.

But why on Earth does it take 4 years

I know- seems kinda crazy it takes that long but at least it's in the works.

Just be thankful you can’t hear when Beth Mowins is calling a game

I'm weird- I can hear but I still like closed captioning, it drives some people near and dear to me crazy tho. Ha.

Do you prefer non-HD television, Piggi?

I'm not being critical of anyone's opinion.
I ask because I've heard people say that they didn't really see the big deal about HDTV. They were all female.

Funny you ask that because I now love it but there was a period there where I hated it.

Now, this was probably 10 years ago now (I'm not good with timing) and I went from a 29 inch old school tv to a 46 (40 something anyway) and I felt like I need to be 100 ft back from the tv. Years pass and I'm now at a 60 something and would love for it to be even bigger.

Anyway, I didn't like HD at first- I felt like I was watching soap operas just the way the filming/picture was on there (which is funny because when I looked it up it is called the soap opera effect or something to that point) but now I'm used to it and love it and you couldn't pry HD from my hands if you tried.

I think it's just all about adjustment time- or was with me.

10 years ago is about right.

Exactly what Mrs. Cane said. Thank You!
