I think most are just excited to get a big win. They know they’re not ready for the elite just yet.

I am sure these pre-season rankings are in part to hype up TV audiences to maximize viewing

I’ve seen this theory multiple times. It makes zero sense. Why would sportswriters concern themselves with tv ratings? It’s more likely that it’s really, really difficult to guess where a nation’s worth of teams stand before a single one of them plays a game.

It was 33-3 in the 4th quarter and Burrow had 5 drops

I'm not making any excuses for Miami. I was pulling for LSU. I was just really surprised at how bad Miami looked, and I'm amused at the chest beating by LSU fans this morning. Congrats on the win.

I love how everyone is suddenly discrediting our win.

It was the best win out of any of the SEC teams this weekend. It was basically a playoff game.

I wouldn't say sportswriters overrate teams b/c they want ratings but I will say they do it b/c of some romanticized notion that certain teams being good makes CFB better. Usually these are teams that were really good when they were younger. Teams like Miami, Texas, Notre Dame... they are always going to be proclaimed as schools that "ARE BACK!" at the start of each year.

Miami may be really good, they may not. LSU did beat that arse though so y'all should be happy to start the year with a win regardless.

Your home field advantage will come in handy against a suddenly overrated LSU team, but your toughest games are on the road, which hasn't served AU well in recent memory.

Like 38-14 last time we played in your house?

Agreed. Miami is worse than everyone thought and LSU is better than everyone thought. Solid win.

You're comparing a veteran team that has made the CFP 3 consecutive years to a team with a new QB, no returning WR's and RB's, an inexperienced OL and a new OC.
Let's not forget the giant gag AU had in Death Valley last year. So Auburn fans shouldn't get too far ahead of themselves.

It’s weird that they are so mad because LSU won. I don’t get that upset when their teams win. Hell, I was actually pulling for Auburn.

This Lsu team is better than last yr. We were two fg aways from being 11-2 last yr. A fg from beating troy and a fg from beating ND. We also outgained bama and out physicaled them in there house. We have a brutal schedule, and time will tell just how good or bad we are. Its week 1

Yeah, who would want to be compared to Clemson, a regular national champion contender?

I don't think anyone claimed that LSU is a better team than Clemson.
