Clemson has long felt the ACC was biased against them down through the years, from officiating to the extra pile-on of probation sanctions handed down to them by the conference itself in addition to what the NCAA gave them back in 1982. Tigers fans haven't forgotten. They despise the favoritism UNC/Duke receives from the conference over them; they hate those two schools.

A sampling of Clemson fans on what they should do...

quote:

If Clemson's future is teathered to the floundering ACC, we're screwed, plain and simple. The best path forward is the SEC, if that is offered, and that's a big 'IF'. The day that happens, I'll run through my neighborhood cheering, wearing nothing but a champagne bottle.

quote:

ACC is toast. They are slow to move and getting out positioned by the SEC, BIG-10 and stuck in a reactive position which is bad news. I fully believe that the main three ACC Charter Schools - Clemson, UNC and Duke all agree to make a move together at which point the ACC is toast. All three have huge brands across the country and deep athletic department funding. I could care less what FSU and Miami do quiet frankly as they are newbies anyway.

quote:

I'm hoping both UNC and Duke get donkey punched after it all shakes out. Never again will they get to dominate in basketball at another conference. For the past 50 years they've screwed over everyone to ensure their basketball teams were positioned to win in the NCAA tournament. Mack Brown ain't gonna live forever and UNC football go back to sucking like Duke football. They better hope they get in the SEC and pray that their father's brother's cousin's let them win at basketball like they did in the ACC.

quote:

If I get $50,000.00 to drive a truck, You think I wouldn't jump at the chance to drive for another company for $200,000.00.

quote:

ACC is on life support. Either we bolt for the SEC or we choose to be relegated to irrelevency.

quote:

Get us to the SEC and be a legend. Get us to the BIGwhatever and at least were still in the game. Do neither of these two things, settle for the leftovers, and probably get fired in a few years.

quote:

A very real possibility is that, because of a bad TV deal with the ACC, Clemson’s future as a national powerhouse hangs in the balance?

Like the Ol time crooner Ferlin Husky use to sing “Lovin May make this world go round but money greases the wheels.”

Can we move on to the SEC already? I’d love to form new rivalries with the likes of TN, Ole Miss, and of course Alabama. Honestly I’m tired of the like of Wake and Duke for football. Our ACC regular season hasn’t seduced me in YEARS!

quote:

If we leave the ACC I’m sorry but the gathering at the paw after home football games has to stop because they will fine the university millions of dollars every time it happens. The SEC and the Big 10 both fine fans for rushing out onto the field if I’m not mistaken so this will have to stop.

Oh no, Mr. Bill!!

Clemson is just an ersatz Mississippi State. No thanks.

I feel like everyone agrees that Clemson is a reasonably good fit on paper but deep down nobody wants them here

We already have better versions of Clemson fans by the thousand. It's just an uninteresting addition and half of us have played them enough that the matchup isn't sexy either.

It certainly seems like the best combination of longterm plays (brand, territory and growth potential) for the SEC are UNC, UVA, FSU and Miami, even though Clemson is a strong FB brand and culture while NC State and especially VA Tech are better cultural fits than their more valuable in-state foes.

I think that's probably right although I think Clemson might have a strong case against one of those four.

I think Miami is very speculative. Obviously it's a huge brand and with NIL and Cristobal they've got a real chance to get some of the glory back, but I think we could all see it falling apart again pretty quickly due to a lack of foundation. It's also a terrible cultural fit. There will be almost no crossover among fans, even worse than say, Missouri or something.

The Miami case is interesting. It's definitely very much not a cultural fit but adding them with FSU locks down all of Florida. It's a massive state that's only growing in population with 3 very different areas (panhandle, central and south).

Miami is valuable to the sEC in its city/area whereas GA Tech in Atlanta really isn't.

I think the novelty of Miami will appeal to some of our fans too. More so than say, Clemson or NC State or VT. But it's a different planet from the SEC culturally. Maybe that's unavoidable.

I couldn't find a frick to give, bless their hearts. The same shite they are whining about the ACC now is why we left back in the 70's they agreed to leave with us then got cold feet and didn't, screw them! They have been very good the last decade and way better than us the last 6 0r 7 years but they are not yet a "national brand" and if they lose 2, 3 or more games a year for a few years(especially not feasting on all the ACC cupcakes) it will be back to hopefully a regional brand.

I'd love to keep Tech afloat but it's hard to make any objective/non-nostalgia based case for GT.

People who compare clemson and auburn should
Be banned. Clemson might be one of the ugliest campuses I have seen in some time. My fiancée compared it to southern Alabama. Football complex was very nice though

Set adrift, waiting on that SEC liferaft. Only way they will get it is if the B1G comes sniffing first.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't every team in the ACC have a ridiculous buy-out penalty for leaving the conference?

The big prize in the ACC is UNC. They should be coveted by both the SEC and B1G. Brings the NC market and a huge national brand. As a Clemson alum it's painful to admit, but it's true. Clemson would probably be the 2nd SEC choice, but I don't think the B1G would be interested unless they are more flexible in their AAU requirement. NCSU or VT would be good culture fits and would be bottom half SEC football teams (easier wins for the top half).

I can't see UVA or Miami fitting into the SEC. Louisville would be a fit, but I don't think you guys are interested.

They had their chance to leave, but felt it was better to make SC look bad and let us leave alone. frick THEM. They deserve everything they get. Don't let them into the SEC, youll only be hating that decision in a few years. They deserve to get left behind
