It may cause hiccups but if you’re that paranoid run the plays into the huddle. Not sure about audibles coming from the sideline but the defense won’t be able to adjust as quickly

Mark Rober - Stealing Baseball Signs with a Phone
Sorry but this is false/untrue/misunderstood.
In that video the ML is not used to steal signs really. It is only used to recognize the patterns themselves. So it recognizes that the guy touched his hat, touched his elbow, touched his knee etc.
So the ML is able to look at the coach and see "Touched his knee, touched his head, touched his elbow". From that, the person with the phone has to spend an inning collecting data and matching the signals the phone recognizes the hardcoded data that was entered at the game. Obviously if the same signals are used from game to game, you wouldn't need to collect data everytime. But in the end, the ML is only used to observe and decipher the callers actions, not what they mean.
In the example you are talking about a very specific action, and in that action you only have 2 possible outcomes, 3 if you count a hit and run, which is still basically a steal.
Now, when it comes to football none of this is useful. Because the combinations and things it could be increases substantially. If an offense is only calling 2 or 3 plays, might could be useful. But when there is a long list of possible plays, it's just not going to work.
So, not only are they not doing it. It's also not very easy to do either.

Didn’t matter in the championship game last year? Just beat them like a drum and sign stealing doesn’t matter.

Change the signals, problem solved.

The article quoting coaches clearly refers to stealing sideline signals and not wireless communication.
I don’t get why Ohio State is bitching about this. Use it to your advantage and put a new play in the same signal to get the defense in a bad formation. I’d use it to my advantage.

I would think you would want to change up all your signs when you play them, and then change them at halftime. Assuming your players are smart enough to handle it. Seems like if they are doing it your could really frick them up. Call a play with previous signals and the same alignment but a different play that takes advantage of then anticipating what you are running

Everyone steals signs but Clemson is a clear king of doing it. It is why Venables’ defense is prone to getting torched when they got setup by their opponent but also often have moments where it seems like they’re in the other team’s headsets and called the one defense that busts what the offense is going to do.
It is a part of the game...hopefully Day is signaling that he’s about to goof them.

Either change your signals, use their sign stealing against them, or go to a huddle and have your plays sent in with personnel.
"They readz our signz" is a sorry excuse.

I assume that like Alabama, LSU, UGA, and others, Clemson has an army of analysts and grad assistants. They probably spend time on stuff like that instead of breaking down film of Wake Forest or NC State.

Yep. Very easy to use the same signals to mean a different play to make it bite them in the arse hard.

I wouldn’t be surprised if OJ Howard’s entire career v. Clemson was essentially built on the sideline sending them a signal they had pounced on before then changed it up on them. Especially since at least one of them was a WR screen fake.

Dabo invites it. Dude can't seem to shut up. That's the only reason I wouldn't want him to come to Bama.

I don't see how it's possible considering those comms are encrypted.
