I think Clark Lea has some parts of his operation that are a huge factor in his success and who may not go to Penn State with him...namely the OC and Jerry Kill.

Also he has a near perfect QB for his offense. Id wait to see how he does with a little coaching turnover and without 25 year old QB

Penn State is the Texas A&M of the Big 10.

A cult.

Why wouldn’t they go after a Pennsylvania native with cult experience and try to land Elko?

I think his actual dream job is Notre Dame. There are probably a few jobs he would seriously consider but I’m not sure Penn State is one of them. It might be, just depends on what he wants. Big stadium/fan base, fairly easy to get to 10-2 most years and in the playoff ???????. At the same time, I think I’ve heard Kiffin say, there is nothing like coaching in the SEC, and there currently only 16 (too many) of those jobs (why I wouldn’t expect Kiffin to go out of conference if/when he goes). Lea might feel the same way.

He was Defensive Coordinator for 3 years at Notre Dame and was quite successful and well-liked by the AD and fanbase. Sometime in the future, who knows…..

Unlike you, it sounds like most of these guys are scared what happens if CCL stays at Vandy.

Will Pavia be joining him for years 7, 8, 9 and 10 of the college experience?

Lea better get the pot of gold while he can. Vandy is not a job you can consistently win at.Hes a 2-10 year away from being fired and it will happen.

Yeah. If there's ever a time to go, it's now. Maybe they've got the next Pavia coming in but if you want a long career, you leave a place like Vanderbilt when your everything QB does.

But he had a stroke and he was out of football all for a couple of seasons.

Kill didn’t have a stroke. He had cancer then in the early 2010s, he had multiple seizures with several of them happening during games. He walked away from coaching for several years, then came back with New Mexico State after being gone five or six years, but only stayed there two years before leaving again (he beat Auburn in Auburn his last season there) to be an analyst at Vandy.

I have a feeling they learn their lesson when it comes to coaches who can’t the big game.
