Did you not watch his opening presser?

Indiana has the 14th highest public university endowment in the country at almost $4 billion and have billionaire Mark Cuban as a booster.

Ole Miss just got their endowment over $1 billion and has to crowdfund their NIL just to make payroll. Their biggest booster is probably a car dealer or a vice president of a clothing company.

The two jobs are not the same. The money was always there at Indiana, they just needed the right coach to unlock it.

The two stats that matter in NIL funding are # of living alumni (IU >800k, closest SEC team is Texas with >600k and ATM with just under that. Most of the SEC is in the 200k or less range) and number of ultra high net worth alumni, where even one can make the difference, but many make high NIL a foregone conclusion. Again, most of the SEC's traditional Big Six are at the bottom of this list.

I do wonder if IU counts satellite campus alumni in this number, which other schools do not. If Texas did, for example, they would probably be well over 1M.

Didn't he say LSU is the best job when he decided to take the LSU job over Ole Miss and others?

He still didn't say what you think he said.

Face it, him leaving didn't have anything to do with not being able to win a championship this year. He left because LSU is a better job with more prestige and more resources.

We will see what he does after his heisman QB jets to the league.

Lane couldn't leave well enough alone.

I think he has a void in his life and searching for it.

The resources are overwhelmingly an issue of being the only P4 team in a talent-rich state. You’re a southern tOSU.

As for the prestige, Lane is basically walking to 3rd base and feeling like he hit a triple.

Cignetti built the damn field, smashed a liner to the right field corner, and is being waved in.

If that’s the statement then you are really reaching on your assumptions. Or maybe your school doesn’t prioritize your program properly.

LSU endowment is barely over 1 billion and your endowment per student is significantly lower than most schools. So I'm not sure what your angle is here to be honest. Seems like a meaningless stat when it comes to football.

The comparison was between Ole Miss and Indiana.

Mark Cuban was one of Indiana's biggest academic donors and didn't give to football before Cignetti got him on board.

As far as LSU, we have singular boosters that can cut checks that Ole Miss would have to scramble to get from handfuls of sources. They're not positioned to match LSU dollar-for-dollar, especially not long term. If you're disputing that, you're not too bright.

Cignetti is an Alpha and a winner.

Lane is a Beta , drama queen, attention whore pretending to be an Alpha.

Simple as that.

I think you're confused by this thread. We're talking about the prestige of the programs overall, not what the current coach is doing.

Prestige has to be built before it can be inherited.

Florida had almost nothing until the Ole Ball Coach created what it has now.

I’m much more impressed by the Spurriers and Cignettis than I am the Kiffins and Days.

ETA: The ironic thing here is that Kiffin was well on his way to that at Ole Miss. He pissed it away. Even if he wins a natty at LSU, he’ll just be liked while he’s there. He will never be the royalty he would have become at Ole Miss.

How many times was Ole Miss playoff bound before Kiffin?

Stop saying that. I can feel it entering my lexicon, and now I’m gonna be “that guy” who wears out a new phrase.

Look at Indiana. No need to and Kelly couldn't win a championship with all that resources you claimed that any one can win at LSU. How do you know for sure that Kiffin will win a championship at LSU?
