Sony was playing better than Chubb before he got UT'd, honestly. It'll be interesting to see how their careers unfold.

I've enjoyed watching the young guy the last couple of weeks. He's already one of the best in the SEC.

This is all that needs to be said right now

Sorry, mine was a bit of an understatement...

Robinson is an overachiever who runs with a chip on his shoulder.

Fournette is an outstanding Freshman tailback.

Nick Chubb is the best Freshman tailback.

Lol, no.

He runs like he is shot out of a canon and looks like he is about as much fun to tackle as a cannon ball woud be.

Ok. I'll bite. Statistics say the OP is correct. Why do you say Fournette is better at this pont in their careers. Nobody is saying that Chubb will end up being the better RB. Only time will tell on that. But why do you believe Fournette is better right now?

There are lies, damn lies and then there are statistics. Chubb hasn't had to rush against the #1 and #6 teams. He plays in the East.

Time will tell so lets revisit this thread at the end of the season.

Honestly, would you say that Fournette has lived up to the preseason hype he received on this board as well at the Tiger Rant?

When does lsu play arkansas?

Georgia plays florida in 2 weeks.
Will that make a comparison more realistic?

not taking anything away from Chubb hes a real good back but he also get a whole lot more touches per game than Leonard thats neither of their faults mostly cuz of depth and injuries. Also you guys have a competent quarterback so not as many 9 guys stacked in the box defensive fronts. I forget who chubb has played the last couple weeks but the games he was shut down were against 2 of the best d lines in the sec in miss st and auburn. Chubb is great i would like to compare with common oppenents but we cant do that till u guys play uf or we play arky barring a gurley return of course

Chubb has one inherent advantage over most anyone (not the wisky rb).

He is built like a monster truck, and he can be fed the rock 30 to 40 touches.

I know that Michel is not a back built to get those touches. Gurley is built big enough, but i don't know that he would be stronger in carries 35 than he was in carries 1 through 5.

Chubb is special no doubt. But given only 15 touches, other backs can outperform him. Given 35 touches, not many guys can do what Chubb didto Arkansas.

I hope you can remember at the end of the season, because if it happened more than 5 minuts ago I can't remember!

That said, Chubb runs against defense that know he's coming. He runs when the box is stacked constantly. LSU (Fournette) has played against
Sam Houston State, ULM, New Mexico State and Kentucky. Chubb got MOST of his carries against Clemson, Missouri and Arkansas, so I don't think your analogy holds up very well.

Chubb only got 4 carries against Clemson. Difference between Gurley and Chubb is Gurley has elite vision. We are blessed to have such talent

For some reason, I thought he got more. Probably because he piled up so many yards. In fairness, he REALLY benefitted that game from Gurley wearing down the Clemson defense.

So you clearly have watched none of our games. The box is constantly stacked because no one respects Mason to stretch the field.

It will be interesting to see LF against the more stout run defenses in the SEC (Alabama, Ole Miss). Chubb doesn't play any defense of the caliber of those two against the run (the highest ranking run defense he has left on the schedule is Florida (#23) and Auburn (#26). When you look at it, LSU will face or have faced 6 run defenses ranked in the top 26 nationally (#2 Alabama, #6 Ole Miss, #22 Wisconsin, #23 Florida, #25 MSU, #26 Auburn). Georgia, on the other hand, will end up facing 3 (#14 Clemson, #23 Florida, #26 Auburn).

Anyway, point is that once all is said and done, LSU's RBs will end up facing much stouter run defenses than UGA did.

Oh, there is no doubt Fournette plays against better defenses. taht is really what amkes arguments like this so difficult. When it all comes down to it, it becomes a bit of homerism and the old eye test, and the eye test is VERY unreliable. So is the homerism thing for that matter. I might be better served to just agree that they are both very talented. Even going by common opponents is futile because teams play each oher differently. QB play, stacked defense etc all play a part.

He's only started 2 games, half of which were against the west. A west team that held bama as a team below 100 yards.
