SEC coaches to win 20+ games and reach NCAA Tournament in first three seasons:

John Calipari
Bruce Pearl
Tubby Smith
Chris Jans

State fans wanting to get rid of Jans are bigger idiots than the ones that don't want Mullen back. I swear, we have all these factors working against us (small budget, poorest state, location far from population) and our fanbase tries to hold us back even more.

No wonder Ole Miss is destroying us athletically and academically. Their fanbase is more united than ever. And more importantly, I know several MSU families (some 3-4 generations of MSU grads) that are sending their kids to Ole Miss.

I could make a little brother comment but I'm not.

I think Ole Miss and State need to understand the reality of NIL and where we stand in regards to the other 14 schools in the conference. Our only chance is to have united fan bases and have a Moneyball type approach to rosters. There is a hard ceiling.

You see this in baseball. Both programs were top 5-7 in the country just a few years ago. But with NIL and transfer portal, we are bottom half of the conference. Just not enough money to go around in the state/ alumni to find 15-20M for football, 7-8M for basketball and still have some left over for baseball.

Jan's has done great. This isn't 2005. We need to realize it is a new world.

Could not agree with your post more if I had written it.

I will emphasize that Ole Miss gets it and State fans in general are still fighting this new reality at every level. Its infuriating.

Ole Miss seemingly wants to have a winning culture across the entire university.

Football 11 wins and almost a playoff team
Mens and Women's Basketball Top 6 seeds
Volleyball (a fast growing sport in MS) is an NCAAT team
Baseball seems to have dropped its natty curse

State fans are fighting about whether it's proper to feed the opposing team after they swept us. Jans is the best thing on campus right now and I wouldn't be surprised if Indiana makes a run at him.

Are there State fans that want to get rid of Jans? For what reasons?

Eventually State fans will stop comparing themselves to Ole Miss and look internally. I think it's finally starting to happen in football.

State should merge with OleMiss on sports. The small state of Mississippi can not support two quality sec teams. Imagine you split Arkansas Athletic Department to two schools.

Duh no actual fan wants to get rid of Jans. The only ones that do are the fans that feed opposing players after they sweep us in baseball. But at least those fans got to pose in pics for instagram!

I don't know any State fans that want to get rid of Jans besides tongue in cheek comments after a bad loss.

It'd be their second option if I was the AD. Beard would be my first call, but anyone would have to overpay to get Beard. Ole Miss isn't gonna just let him walk that easy.

From what I heard he was at the top of Arkansas’s list until the cal thing happened.

I am confident we lose him this year or next. NC State seems zeroed in on Will Wade, but if that falls through, Jans would fit in there. Iowa is interesting as well. His style would do well in the B1G. It's done well in the SEC, but he can't compete for championships.

Ole Miss is going to do what it takes to hold on to Beard, just like they did Kiffin. It worked out for Kiffin, and it will work out for Beard. Ole Miss will be a top 4 seed next year. If Hubbard stays, we will be an NCAA team again, but very similar to Jans' first three years, all 8-10 in the SEC years and playing in the 8-9 game.
