I don't know, but the sec owes UTx a huge thank you for running a&m into our arms. The Texas recruits are flocking to sec schools. Hope chavis can snag a few for aggie.

You guys are some really insecure fans. What, maybe a handful of the 39959355 registered LSU fans on here think he actually sucks?
He's going to do a really good job at A&M, but that doesn't mean LSU fans should be crying like a North Korean after Kim Jong Il's death. LSU absolutely made the right call not offering 1.6 mill.
It's funny, I came across this gem from Kaiser earlier....
Are you guys actually boasting the fact that Chavis left his previous employer with equivalent talent to your dumpster fire defense? You think it's a mere coincidence LSU has comfy lead in the #1 recruiting rankings, and you guys are losing recruiting battles left and right?
Please spare me last year's defensive rankings. LSU kept the defense off the field all day last year, and when it was on it was eye-gouging stuff, minus the Ole Miss game....and he'd have blown that game too had Freeze not gone full on derp with that no huddle 4th and 1.
LSU's front seven has really suffered because of Chavis' "lb expertise" and his bbq buddy brick. Please forgive us for not being distraught LSU didn't bend over to his ridiculous salary demands.
He'll do a good job at A&M, and I'm a Steele skeptic myself. But with O coaching the line, Raymond the secondary, and Steele the linebackers, I sure as hell like our ability to develop the players we have over anyone. it's going to be difficult for him to frick up.

DT - A&M
DE - A&M (not close)
LB - LSU (but depth is an issue)
DB - LSU
So, tell me, you corndog nutria etouffee eating swamp feline. Which defense has more talent?

Chavis. The Steele thing may work but it eerily reminds me of a time in the not so distant past when we said 'no problem, John L is familiar with the team. We're good- things will be finnnnnne.'

Like 99% of the LSU fan base has a "wait and see" approach, because he was far down the wish list. Fans are just excited the talent level is about to go back up and yaw yaw is slaughtering the recruiting trail.
Right now I'd definitely choose Chavis if it meant brick wasn't in the picture. Ideally I would choose neither anyways

Steele and Orgeron> chavis and haley.
Chavis>steele.
Chavis>steele.

How many national title teams has john chavis been a part of in 35 years of coaching? Anyone? I'll answer that 1. Steele and Orgeron combined 10 titles teams. So let's not make Chief out the be a savior. If you aggies fans would really look at the facts you win with players and right now you guys are the laughing stock in you own state. Lsu, Houston, Texas, and tcu have commits from top 25 players in Texas. The aggies have zero. He is an outstanding dc but will he be there to ever coach any talent because recruiting the way you guys are now will get Sumlin fired.

Ed Orgeron is a recruiter. That's it. He is not a schemer. Recruiting DL has never been a problem for LSU

No it hasn't, but continually finishing 2nd for the number 1 DL recruit in the country has been getting rather stale.
Thanks Haley. Enjoy our intern, Texas

Don't sell the man short...........he is a recruiter and quite possibly the best defensive line technician teacher in the college game.......ask all the pros.

Also is pretty spectacular at developing DL.

Coaches do actually refine and improve as time goes on. He was over his head during his time at Ole Miss, but he's learned from a lot of the all-time greats. It's not outrageous to suggest he and even Raymond will contribute greatly to the gameplan.

The few Brick has gotten over the last five years didn't even develop well. Danielle Hunter's hs coach coached von Miller and Hunter in high school, and he said Hunter was farther along and more athletic. Hunter had 4.5 career sacks with the help of brick

We have had zero pass rush for 2 years and chavis played a guy a middle linebacker last year for most of the season that couldn't play at Tulane over a guy that is up for every linebacker award and is going to be 1st round pick next spring barring injury.

Chavis, because he's proven. He's guaranteed to throw a game away once a season.

Alabama demoted Steele after 2007, but I still might take him for the recruiting alone. He's also a great LB coach.
Plus Third and Chavis in those late game collapses have to suck.

Raymond-secondary
Ed O-DL
Steele-linebackers
Unless steele calls game like I did on NCAA 13, I like LSU's chances.

He didn't have the players. The DBs there couldn't make open field tackles. Also, that same WVU team put up 60 less yards on Chavis' defense earlier that year. The players he had prevented them from scoring as much. To that end, we mostly taking a wait and see approach. Not many, if any, are saying we are going to shut things down. Be we also don't expect to fall off the map.
