Poisoning a tree is not akin to NCAA violations or accusations.

I was responding to the question as to why the different responses. Bama was accused by Au fans, with baseless accusations. Au has been accused my multiple news outlets, caught the father of a star player lying and is under current NCAA investigation. See the difference in that and fans stalking kids to try to accuse them?

I know you're new here but just FYI ~ AU has some shady arse characters supporting, administering, and running your program.

Yet Alabama is the team that has been on probation for going on two decades.

Which is why Bama fans show caution when an accusation is made. Whereas Au has been on probation more times than any other SEC school in history. And as RT pointed out, Dye, who was nailed by the NCAA as a cheater, still has a prominent place in Au with an office in the athletic dept and was publicly and openly welcomed back in by Chiz. And at his hire, Dye even stated he talked with Jacobs several times about hiring Chiz.

I am new to TD, but I have been around Auburn football for a LONG time. I know that there are shady people in the Auburn program. There are shady people in the Alabama program too, and probably every other program out there. It wasn't that long ago that Paul Bryant Jr's name was brought up in some shady deals. The Bear himself was not the most upstanding citizen around.

As for Troop, since I am over 40 I don't like his antics either, but guess who does. The kids love playing for him and I have heard several parents of recruits say they liked Trooper and believed he would do what was best for their son.

Auburn don't throw God, Family, or the Creed in your face any more than Bama throws tradition, number of NC's and stuff like that in our face. You just see it that way because you hate Auburn and everything they do.

Ask some UT players and their parents how they feel about him.

Tell me you understand the difference in the two things you just typed here.

And who did Dye learn from? Oh yea, the coach that every bama fan idolizes so maybe y'all are just being hypocrites??

agreed.

But he wasn't chastized by SACS for meddling in athletic affairs, and didn't control the BOT by having most members under loans to his bank.

He was a drinker for sure. Upstanding former players have nothing but good to say about him though. And while at Bama, never got in trouble with the NCAA. Unlike Dye, who is still around campus and still has the ear of Jacobs and Chiz.

You're upset about enduring 9 months of BS allegations? Join the club. As an Alabama fan, when have Auburn fans EVER quit alleging Bama cheating? The difference is that after the Means case the allegations against Alabama have been almost 100% exclusively from Auburn fans. The allegations the last 9 months against Auburn have been from many rival fanbases and multiple media sources. Heck, you even have recent former players flat out admitting to receiving cash and other illegal benefits while at Auburn.

I expect Auburn fans to defend their team. Any good fan does that and that's natural. The difference I see is that there is an element of either naivety or arrogance from Auburn fans in regards to their program and school. All the self righteous mottos and creeds about having more integrity and doing things the right way more than other schools is causing rival fans to be a little tough on you guys. If you guys would just acknowledge that you are no better or more righteous than other schools in the SEC you might not catch so much grief. A lot of you seem to have bought in to the hype of your own self righteousness which seems to explain the over the top defensiveness over every allegation.

Dye - convicted cheat, public liar, purchaser of players.

Bear - 6 time National Champ and never brought before the NCAA.

Every one of the news outlets backed off the story months ago, yet fans of many fanbases want to continue throwing around rumors and accusations as if they are facts. No one, not even the news outlets that you talk about ever said that Auburn paid for, or even offered to pay for Cam. It was all about Miss State, everyone else made up the rest of the rumors and have convinced themselves that it has to be true.

And the Auburn players who said they were paid?

And it didn't help that Chiz was defending Cecil, calling him good family, then less than a week later had Cecil admitting to shopping Cam to State. After that, Chiz went into a no comment mode. He didn't investigate, he blindly took their words, as evident by his defense of him.

at alabama

You honestly think Bryant didn't cheat? Dye wasn't the only one of his former players that went on and got caught cheating. Who do you think they learned from?

Bear - revered, accomplished coach.

Dye - lying, cheating, disgraced coach, who is still very prominent on the plains.

Why would anyone think things haven't changed down there?

I agree completely. Didn't it seem like Chizik was pissed off after that. I think he was lied to, and decided then and there that he was just going to go with no comment any more.
