Barkley played in a celebrity baseball game yesterday. He goes on this gem of a rant:
quote:

"We'da took good care of him (Nowitzki) too. We're in the SEC. Seriously, you know what y'all call SMU? They'da fit in fine in the SEC. Texas and Oklahoma just hated them. But in the SEC, dude, we'll make sure you're well taken care of. Everyone wants to give us a hard time about giving Cam Newton $200k. That's called a good damn investment. We got him for 200 grand? Are you kidding me? On the good days, I wish my accountant could do stuff like that."

Reminds me of when Pat Dye was on the radio during the Albert Means crap. He laughed and said, "$200K for a DLineman? That's QB money"

I'd forgotten about how Charles tried to get Nowitzki to Auburn. If he had come to the US to play College BBall, Auburn would have been his choice.

Auburn would have won a national championship that year too. That was the best Auburn team ever.

I really doubt that. He's not Michael Jordan and even Kevin Durant couldn't get Texas a title.

So why did he only visit Cal, Stanford, and Kentucky?

Dirk was not a very solid player when the Mavs first got him in 1998, he was asked to play Power Forward because of his towering size over many other players in the league. The biggest issue? He wasn’t very good at playing defense. Hecklers in the stands would call him “Irk Nowitzki”, because he had no D.

That isn't really completely accurate. Nellie had Dirk playing SF quite a bit early on which was about as stupid as when PJ Carlisimo had Durant play SG.

I really wasn't focusing on his position, but thanks.
