I think Bama would have probably jumped up to the #2 spot if Auburn had lost that game.
For Auburn, I would go with the 1994 UGA game. If we had won that instead of tied it, I think we go into the IB with a different mindset, considering the winning streak would still be alive. Defending a non-losing streak is a lot less inspiring than defending a winning streak.

Really? Because auburn fans have been hanging their hat on the "no national title in 30+ years, tech won one in 1990" argument since you can't argue series record, recent success against UGA, academics, campus, etc

Auburn 2013. Alabama wins that and probably would have finished the 3-peat national championship.
Ohio State 2014. Alabama wins that and is probably going for a 3-peat national championship this coming year.
