Meet Anthony Schwartz, incoming freshmen WR for Auburn:

Just this week Schwartz was presented with the Gatorade Track & Field Athlete of the Year Award by his biggest admirer, Minkah Fitzpatrick.

LINK

Schwartz isn't just the fastest HS kid in America this year, but one of the fastest in US history. He owns 4 of the top 10 fastest recorded 100m times in US HS history.

quote:

Schwartz also recorded the nation's fastest wind-legal time in the 100 this year at 10.09 seconds in this month's Great Southwest Classic. That time ranks No. 4 all-time in the nation's prep track history

quote:

Schwartz now owns the fourth-, sixth-, eighth- (10.16), ninth- (10.17) and 13th-best (10.21) 100-meter times in American high school track history.

He's not just the fastest HS kid in the US though, Schwartz is the favorite to win gold in the 100m at the U20 World Championships in Finland this month. He's stated that his goal for the World Championships is to run a sub-10 second 100m, but he will "settle" for "just" winning gold.

However his record setting times aren't just confined to the US, he already set the World Youth record for the 100m.

LINK

quote:

When you hear “fastest recruit in the country,” it can easily come off as hyperbole. And when that moniker sits beside most prospects, it probably is exaggerated.

For Schwartz, it’s accurate.

In March, the 4-star wide receiver participated in the Florida Relays, a big Sunshine State track event. He blew past the 100-meter dash competition — past and present — with a time of 10.15 seconds. That time set the World Youth Record previously set at 10.17 seconds.

To give an idea of how much the World Youth Record translates to the future, the record-holder for the 200-meter youth record is Usain Bolt. So yeah, Schwartz has Olympic-caliber speed.

But don't take my word for it, take the word of one of the most legendary sprinters in the world, Carl Lewis, who nearly convinced Schwartz to take a track only scholarship to Houston.

quote:

Legendary sprinter Carl Lewis recruited Schwartz throughout 2017 to sprint for the Cougars. It’s not easy to to tell a nine-time Olympic gold medalist “no,” but that’s exactly what Schwartz had to do to choose Auburn.

So it should be no secret that Schwartz has already set the realistic goal of competing in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

LINK

quote:

"I want to make the Olympic team in 2020," Schwartz told AL.com earlier this week. "The next four teams they have, I want to make all four of them."

But don't let his International goals fool you, Schwartz still has big goals for his college athletics career as well.

quote:

"On the football field I want to become a Freshman All-American and be able to help my team to an SEC title and national title. Then, on the track side, I want to be able to be another Freshman All-American, be the Bowerman Award recipient, which is the Heisman for track. Then, I know it's kind of big, but break the collegiate records in the 100-meter and the 60-meter, and win a national championship in the 60 and 200 indoor, and then the 100 and 200 outdoor."

Oh, and I hope you guys weren't banking on being able to double team Schwartz to slow him down, because he's bringing company with speed just as deadly.

quote:

What will be a bigger problem for the SEC: You and fellow two-sport athlete Shaun Shivers on the football field, or you and him on the track?

Schwartz: "I don't even know, because on the football field it's going to be unfair because it's the two fastest kids from high school coming in and we'll both line up on different sides of the field. You got to look out for one; you can't move both safeties to both sides, because then we'll just run the ball down your throat. Then on the track, having me and him--especially since we'll be training together for the first time -- we'll both get each other faster. I wouldn't be surprised if we went 1-2 in the SEC and nationals."

Shaun Shivers, if y'all didn't know, is Darren Sproles 2.0, but a step faster and more polished coming out of HS.

Y'all remember in 2013 and 14 how Sammie Coates used to constantly blow by secondaries and find himself wide open, and how even though most of the time Marshall would overthrow him or Coates would drop the ball just the threat alone was enough to open up our running game to the point that it was nearly unstopple?
Okay now imagine the same but with QBs as accurate as Stidham and Nix, a WR that can actually catch, an even bigger gap between him and the secondary, and then add in a second speedster the defense has to account for..... Yeaahhhh, you guys are fricked hard.

TL;DR

All of your defenses are super fricked and there's nothing you can do about it.

Irrelevant. 100m times are not the end all in football

Track performance has very little relevance to the football field. He was the #30 WR this past class for a reason; plenty of guys on every team are fast as shite. Just because he can beat most people in a dead sprint doesn’t mean he can run a clean route, block downfield, or locate and catch the ball against an SEC secondary

Plenty of good track athletes play football and don't do shite on the field.

Yes, a multiple sport athlete is so irrelevant.

Im sure if he were bought with that A&M money, you and the aggies would be posting this as well.

The last SEC football with a 100m time on par with Schwartz was Trindon Holliday. His speed got him drafted to the NFL where he became the most prolific returner in Broncos history. If you didn't know Trindon Holliday is 5'5" and the shortest player in NFL history next to some random guy who got into one game in 1929... and Schwartz has a much more well rounded and polished game already than Holliday ever did, so yeah I'd say his speed is relevant.

You conveniently left out that the #30 WR is still a 4* and the #163 player overall. But his composite is dragged down by one site's ranking, ESPN has Schwartz rated the #7 WR and #46 overall player. He was an Under Armor All-American too, so I think it's safe to say he's pretty good at football too.

And no, no team in CFB has any player at all as fast as Schwartz.

Hell of a fricking post my man.

I mentioned this in another thread, but I had two people in vastly different places tell me Shivers was special when they found out I was an AU fan.
One was a guy that used to play pro bball at a bar that knows him or knows people that know him. Other was a professional in my field that follows HS football here. Was just really random. We will see I guess.

yea, I'm sure you said something similar last year too before 49-10

When's the last time any two teams had a 56 point swing from one year to the next? I'll wait while you check on that for me
