Unless you're Usain Bolt then that's a stupid fricking idea because you'll never make enough money to live off of. Even Usain Bolt himself makes 99% of his annual earnings from endorsements. Much better move to go to college for free while you train.

No, it fricking doesn't unless you're world famous like Usain Bolt.

Ummmm, no

I don't doubt what you're saying about JF3 but he was definitely hyped. How else would we even know his name?

Oh yea, there were some dumbasses who did because according to them our offense could only work with a DT QB, problem with that was he wasn't really a DT becuase he wasn't a real threat through the air. When pressed even the guys on tbe JF3 train would usually admit that they werent confident about him. I would say the majority of the fanbase at the time was behind Sean White.

Also, I think there were more idiots here on tRant joking about how much AU fans were "hyping" JF3 than there were actual AU fans hyping him

Yeah it does but like I said in my post it's on the elite end and simply being a pro track athlete isn't the elite end of the pay scale. Track money is in endorsements and appearances.

150 athletes in the top 10 of their event isn't the elite of track. Track's elite are in the 100 and 200 men's. No one cares about long distance runners, pole vaulters, and shot putters or even if you're only good enough to in the relay. There are only a handful of competitions within T&F that people actually care about.

Okay well either way even Usain Bolt himself only made barely a million dollars on the actual track last year, and he dominates. The other 30+ million he made were all endorsements, and there aren't many track stars in all of history that are half as marketable as Bolt.

If money was what Schwartz cared about then there's far more money to be made in the NFL.

I remember Demps and Holliday. Those two little guys never did shite against us

Speedsters like that are really devastating to medicore opponents though

Mediocre opponents like NFL teams? Because Holliday was a really good punt returner in the NFL.

Demps can't hold a candle to Schwartz on the field though, Demps was trash

Pretty impressive. Will be interesting to see how he develops, it will certainly be difficult to develop into a D1 ready WR in terms of route running and blocking if seriously prepping for a 2020 Olympic team spot.

Auburn certainly won't be short on speed this year between Schwartz, slayton and J. Davis (who I think will be fastest field speed player of the three).

That said, and as some have mentioned, field speed doesn't equal track speed. Contending with aggressive DBs, grass/turf, cuts with deceleration and acceleration, pads, cleats etc all will affect that world class speed.

Fournette is a great example. Not a mind blowing 40 time in the combine but turned in the fastest game speed burst of any offensive player last year in the NFL on a 90 yd TD run. Combine Speed is over-rated: tracking the NFL's fastest players.

Although, if he does pan out at WR (jet sweep and or vertical threat) or as a return threat, the game day signs are already built...

well there you go

he's so damn fast, he must not be any good at football

it's better to be slow, Because Track

I never said he wasn't good at football. I said 100m times are not really important in football. Which is true.

Very good analysis and post

Absolutely, but Schwartz wasnt a 4* and Under Armour All-American based on speed alone, he's a good WR prospect. I'll link a couple videos for you to watch if you're interested

HS highlights

The Opening, running routes, drills, and taking reps vs other elite prospects

Those show blazing field speed, solid route running, great change of direction and deceleration, good moves in the open field, good hands, good ability to track the ball in the air. Doesn't show any blocking, but he also played FS in HS so he's obviously not afraid of contact.

I think he's going to be a damn good WR overall, not just a speed demon used for sweeps and returns

Anthony Schwartz is so fast he can startle his own reflection.

Anthony Schwartz is so fast he runs around the world to scratch the back of his head

Anthony Schwartz can disappear quicker than a Vols fans title hopes after kickoff.

Anthony Schwartz goes downfield faster than TexAg7 goes down at a REC christmas party.

100m times are a big deal in the open field especially if you have good acceleration. The backfield is another story. Dont believe me?. Look at alvin kamara when he played a&m.
