Not a guarenteed spot, but an extemely larger probability to go to the bowl.

But if you are going to try and rank them on an unbiased level, you should throw out points awarded based upon a bias

Those 8 sugar bowls and an orange bowl back in the day are paying off for us in this ranking

We should just have our own ranking, seperate from everyone else.

I agree, but I don't see an easy way to do that. You can't just not count big 4 bowls. And if you consider every bowl even then that's not accurate either.

Love seeing how low Oregon is. PAC 12 people like to pretend that Oregon has been a power forever

Who exactly had a larger probability of getting into a big bowl? If you won the SEC, you went to the Sugar, if you won the SWC, you went to the Cotton, if you won the Big 8, you went to the Orange, if you won the B1G and Pacific, you went to the Rose.

Ivy League schools were competing on the same field until athletics were de-valued at those institutions. Why would their accomplishments, even if they were 75 years ago, be wiped away? It's the same reason Vanderbilt is still higher than a hand full of other SEC programs. They were once a great program.

because they haven't done shite for nearly a century?
and Princeton's 28 national titles should be acknowledged? then Harvard, Princeton, and Yale are the greatest football programs of all time.

Vanderbilt hasn't done a thing in over half a century. Lets take them off the list too. This formula takes these things into account. Otherwise Alabama wouldn't be #1 on this list. The past isn't ignored, but it isn't heavily weighted either.

Agreed. I understand why the recent pass may get more weight than pre-integration football. That said, it's silly to pretend football didn't start until recently.

yes. Vandy sucks arse. Vandy have been to like 2 bowls since 1945. and they're THE losingest football program since 1945.

edit: second losingest program in all of cfb. before last year I think they were the losingest program since 1945.
