Stoops has turned around Kentucky. Think about that. How on earth can you rank Muschamp, a perennial under performer, ahead of him?

I don't think Gus deserves to move up but Mullen at 4 is obscenely ridiculous.
I have no theoretical issue with the Jimbo positioning, but I don't think many SEC fans really believe he's the #2 coach. He does have the resume to support it, though.

quote:Richt would have made the CFP in year 2 had it existed - Smart made CFP year 2.
UGA: upgraded
Richt finished with 3 losses (Saban/LSU National Champs twice) in year 3 - Smart finished year 3 with 3 losses.
Richt 32-8 first 3 seasons (2 SECCG)
Smart 32-10 first 3 seasons (2 SECGC)
UGA fans were all thumping their chests about Richt through his first 3 seasons as they have with Smart. Georgia replaced an older coach who could recruit with a younger coach who can recruit - to this point. be interesting to see how UGA does without Chaney/OC this year and beyond.
quote:Chizik went undefeated won a BCS title and averaged 3.8 losses/year. Gus lost a BCS title and averages 4.5 losses/year.
AU: slight upgrade
quote:the only reason Stoops wasn't fired before 2018 was because he beat USC the previous 4 years. bad losses to UF and and to a terrible UTK had that fanbase split. Brooks is a better game day football coach than Stoops.

quote:much like Stoops, Mason wouldn't be at VU if he couldn't beat the dumpster fire that has been UTK. there's not a planet in any galaxy that Bobby Johnson hasn't forgot more about coaching football than Derek Mason has ever known - and I loathe the tater that is Bobby Johnson and like Derek Mason. I feel sick now for admitting that

I think Muschamp and Malzahn are too high and stoops too low.
Take into account what they have to work with.

the issue with this comparison is are we comparing tenures as a whole or to that specific point in time? Spurrier is a great example, are we comparing muschamp to 05-08 spurrier, or to entire SC career spurrier? Becuase that would likely elicit some wildly differnet responses.

I'm fine with it.
This time next year Kirby will be ahead of Fisher though.

How does FSU feel about Jimbo. I wonder if they will ever recover from him. Also, will he be closer than 3 games of the west leader this year?

Did lose to Mississippi State. A year after running Florida State into the ground.
Jimbo is overrated.

Lost to AU after they had packed in the season. Yes, overrated.

That’s definitely the biggest fluke win of Gus’ career. We looked absolutely dreadful and completely lost majority of that game.
