Well I certainly believe a story about unrealistic offers to mediocre QBs involving the spurning of Auburn where the sources are an "Alabama family" and those surrounding them

I don't have any knowledge of this offer, but a lot of people would be surprised about the amounts being offered for mediocre to good QBs. A guy like Taulia could easily get a seven figure offer from a SEC level team.

The toggle between Robby Ashford & Payton Thorne resulted in another losing season.

How many more games does Auburn win if they have a QB completing 67% of his passes and throwing for 3,000 yards?

As opposed to

*checks notes*

1,755 yards to go with 10 INTs?

I can think of at least 2, but very likely 3-4 more wins. Bama, Ole Miss, NMST, Georgia…

Lia would have been the difference between winning 9+ games and a Top 15 finish vs. finishing with your 4th season in a row of 6 wins or less.

I don’t blame Auburn for offering him $1.5Mil. I just think it’s hilarious that they did it illegally and got turned down.

Hank Brown better than Taulia?

I have no idea how he'd slot in and I certainly wouldn't have confidence there is a better QB on our roster.

That said, and without any consideration of how he'd stack up against Taulia, I actually expect this board to be in "wait Peyton Thorne doesn't suck anymore?" mode by mid-season. Which isn't a high bar mind you, but it will be interesting.

Have you seen him play, Tauli is not worth $1.5 million

Maybe, but this is Auburn we're talking about.

That’s right. Hank Brown is better than the Big Ten’s all time leading passer, but isn’t good enough to start over Thorne, who averages 6 yards per pass attempt.

You must be new to the world of overpaying mediocre players.

We look at it and call it overpaying for a mediocre player, but how many millions of dollars is 3+ extra wins worth to a team on the heels of back to back losing seasons?

I don’t think anyone here could say that’s not worth $1.5Mil with a straight face.

If Auburn didn't directly talk to Taulia, it's not illegal.

Either way, we probably did, just like Alabama did with that dogshit QB from Notre Dame.

Just like everyone else is...

Yes.

ETA: Im a huge Hank Brown fan. He is the gunslinger Qb that is not afraid to push the ball down field. Throws the ball on time, tall with great arm talent. He is our sleeper that you will face if Throne gets a little banged up from running the RPO
