Damn, terrible news. To anyone reading this in the path, please be safe and get out if you can. I will be praying for you. I have always loved New Orleans and this is the last thing folks need to be dealing with right now.

Weather Channel saying it could get to Cat 5. This is going to be so bad.

Were any improvements made to the levees after Katrina or are we looking at the same situation?

Lots of improvement around NO. This one is taking aim at Morgan City and Baton Rouge as of now

Aren't quite a few parts of LA under sea level? I seem to remember that being the case for NO

Looks like it's going to be bad and they have it heading toward Baton Rouge. Everyone stay safe.

Seems Baton Rouge is just east of the eye and this will likely be one of the worst storms to ever hit the capital city if it stays its projected path. Praying this storm moves through fast. Definitely a resilient people here so we have to roll with the punches.

This forecast would make Ida the most powerful hurricane to cross Terrebonne Parish since Hurricane Betsy in 1965 which made landfall with 130 mph winds

You’ve got to do whatever it takes to put your thang down, flip it, and reverse it.

It’s time to work your magic for good, Pio.

I'm in Gulf Shores. That projection puts us on the fringe of needing to leave. I'm really debating, but if it shifts east (like Sally did last year) and we stay we are totally fricked. I may just get out of here.

Same. Already drinking a bit to relax this evening. Gotta work all day tomorrow to put things away and secure the property.

I think yall will be ok. Looks like a direct hit to southeast Louisiana. I'd just check the projection in the morning to make sure there aren't any major shifts.

. It seems they have been landing here much more often than anywhere else on the Gulf Coast and more than they generally have since the storms have been tracked.

Hurricanes usually do that. They attack the same areas usually in spans of multiple seasons. It will eventually change though just don’t know when.
50ish years ago, people in the Florida, etc region probably felt this same exact way you feel now. They had like 11 hurricanes in 5 years, and half were cat.4 or higher…. It’s cyclical
