Aha! Maybe if he went to something that's a little more recent common knowledge, he'd be better at it.

C'mon, you live in America's taint.
We have a uniquely rich culture, tradition, and history. You can't imagine the beauty of this state till you've seen it. In fact, folks come from all over the world to experience Louisiana. Plus---since our state doesn't base it's self-worth on our fighting chickens---even Professional Sports have flourished here.

Know a lot of people that got home generators installed after Katrina
Just like any equipment those things are now over 15 years old
How reliable will they be when you really need them
Plus if you are risk of flooding you won’t need it

I agree. Its a gorgeous state. Love the Cajun food and culture. Good thing I don’t live there as I’d probably weigh 400 lbs. The food is so good!

Prayers to y'all. Michael was an experience I never want to go through again. I'm afraid Ida is going to be a bad one. Hope it continues to move quickly and maybe it won't get as bad I think it might. Good luck, Louisiana.

Let’s hope this doesn’t become more than what it is. But like always, our linemen with Oklahoma Gas & Electric will be making their way down to help get electricity restored. We can relate with significant weather disasters.

And to the Cock saying why would anyone want to live in Louisiana? Seriously? I’m sure Louisianans could say the same about the Palmetto State. Every state has its highs and lows. You can trash and banter each others college programs, whatever. But to insult where someone lives or where they are from is the ultimate level of Douchebaggery. Every state has something to offer, especially a unique culture unlike any other place. Louisiana has a lot of history, great food, great entertainment. The people are passionate and have the best accents in all of America.

I think it’s cool as shite that Oklahoma deploys mobile radar to assist emergency services near landfall (and collect data).

quote:

HURRICANE IKE

A crew from NSSL and the University of Oklahoma rode out Hurricane Ike in the cab of a mobile radar as the hurricane made landfall on the Texas coast. It was the first time dual-polarized Doppler radar data has been collected on a landfalling hurricane eyewall. The radar was positioned near Lake Jackson, TX.

Another mobile radar operated by the University of Alabama-Huntsville was on the north side of Houston and collected data on the eastern half of Ike's eye. Dual-polarization data was collected during the entire period.

NSSL's field command vehicle and a mobile mesonet were also in Texas providing support.

The stress of these impending storms is terrible especially if you’ve ridden one out or suffered damages. I’ve never heard cinder block creak until I sat in my office when Rita hit. It’s a horror show sitting in pitch black In the middle of the night with those sounds.

I installed a 22kw generac last summer for around $7300 vs the $12-15k the electrical companies wanted. Had my dad use his 10% discount at Lowes to order the generator. Paid $500 to an electrician on the side, $300 for supplies, and $1500 for 500 gallons of propane plus tank rental. Definitely peace of mind knowing my a/c will be running as well as everything else.

Be safe.

LSU greets South Carolina with BBQ lunch

LSU
Matt Barbato
SEC Country staff
LSU is rolling out the red carpet for South Carolina this weekend.

Louisiana State University flew the Gamecocks into Baton Rouge, La., with its own United Airlines charter plane and welcomed South Carolina with a barbecue lunch upon arrival on Friday.

LSU has done its best to make the Gamecocks feel at home this weekend after South Carolina was forced to move the game from Columbia, S.C,. to Baton Rouge after devastating floods ravaged the area last week.

LSU will give South Carolina the keys to Tiger Stadium in a ceremony involving student government representatives from both schools before the game, and also host a tailgate with free food and drinks for Gamecock fans at the LSU Parade Grounds.

The Tigers marching band will also play South Carolina’s alma mater and fight song during its pregame show. Finally, LSU will blare the song “Sandstorm” before Saturday’s kickoff to pay homage to a South Carolina pregame tradition.

No matter the outcome of the game, LSU’s generosity is what Southern hospitality is all about.

Just say “Thank You” and shut the F up …
