You play under the rules of the system that you have chosen to be part of. I was not happy when LSU had to have a rematch with Bama in 2011, but that is the way that it played out. We were the SEC Champions, and they won the national championship. It's kind of that way in the NFL; you might not win your division or conference, but you can win the Super Bowl.

I hate both teams but I believe the CFP as it is is majorly flawed. You should have to be the winner of your conference to be eligible. And never should two teams from the same conference play in the title game. This shite is killing college football. I’m not just saying that as an Auburn fan, but a fan of the sport. Downvote me to hell.
